Samsung had a 70" LCD a couple of years back, I actually saw one that was on display in Sydney. I seem to remember the price was about $23k AU at the time.

With Sharp offering a 90" for $11k or less and an 80" for half that its hard to see how Samsung will sell a 75" at $17k.

Damn lucky those South Koreans; MPEG 4 digital terrestrial transmission, full hd broadcasts ie 1920 x 1080 producing the best quality digital picutres in the world and therefore capable of delivering a nice result on such a behemoth. Nice in Australia if your watching BRD or gaming.

the sharp 70" lcd goes for $3k something here, in the us its around $2k. which goes to show can buy these things new when just released and its the biggest a maker has made and pay the premium that goes with it. or just wait a tad and suddenly its selling for what is a much much reduced price !

Many people have large living rooms with viewing distances of 4 metres plus, a 75" is not overly large at that sort of distance even for TV viewing if the display is good.
Having said that, LCD/LED is typically the worst for poor quality source.

I've just come back from LA and spend some time looking at one of these.  My viewing distance was from 2 to 5m from the screen and the content was HD animated Bluray movie.  From this source the picture quality was excellent at the distances I viewed them and a couple of meters either side of centre.

I know that a lower quality source will probably look much worse close up, but my room is 6m long and I sit about 4m from the screen.  I also know that my video scaler does make a big difference upscaling to HD output. I have first hand experience of this with non-HD foxtel on my current LCD.

I wish could have seen a few other sources and spent more time but I stumbled onto the TV and made the best of the opportunity.
