Hi All

I am looking to upgrade my PVR and i am ideally looking for a unit that allows dual pause (if possible) of 2 channels.

Not too fussed on other features or EPG's etc.

As with most people im after it being easy to use and of good quality (have been bitten buying cheap Kogan before!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Never heard of one, because you would need two active timeshift buffers, which I've never heard being available. You could simulate it by setting recordings on the 2 channels.

Certainly only possible on Beyonwizes, as deangeli says, by making two simultaneous recordings. The Beyonwiz will remember where it was up to in playback of each of the recordings, but it's less convenient than if you were able to have two timeshift buffers. In either case, if the two services are from two different broadcasters, you'll only be able to watch services from those two broadcasters live (or timeshifted).

Understandable request but is perhaps based on a "VCR" approach to recording. The sort of shuttling between two shows to improve viewing efficiency and avoid unwanted content (ads, boring bits, etc).

If you have two shows you want to watch on a PVR then just record them both (delay sitting down for half an hour or watch a third you recorded previously). Then watch one from start to end (skipping through as fast you want). Then watch the second from start to end (skipping through as fast you want).

Its generally more relaxing than juggling two at the same time.

Thanks for the replies, looks like that i will have to do the recording thing, i will still probably look to upgrade from my existing unit though to get reliable records and ease of use! My issue is that the wife wants whats on channel 10 (example) from 7-9 and i want whats on channel 9 for the same time, and ideally want to watch it all that night.

At least i know the BeyondWizes will remember where the recording was up to so that would make it easier aswel.

Thanks Guys

There are plenty of twin tuner PVRs that have bookmarking and resume play features so they will remember where you are up to, but ideally you would probably watch the first show whilst the 2nd show is recording, then when you have finished watching the first show you can play the 2nd show (or chase play if it's still recording) and that way skip the ads and get through it faster.

There are some shows we try and watch the night of showing (eg The Block) but usually we watch something prerecorded first, and by the time that has finished, we can then chaseplay The Block and knock it off real quick. Most of our shows are however a few days old by the time we get around to watch them, which doesn't matter as long as they are not who's been voted off The Voice or Masterchef.
