I as as now austar is owned by foxtel how long before this forum becomes defunct and the foxtel forum will be the norm. Also

if foxtel will be available via the nbn will the satelite system be abolished ?.I ask as I was looking at the nbn site and it said

foxtel could be obtained via (t hub ,t box) don't remember which. If will satelite still be used.

I don't want to be flamed just curious thats all.

The branch will probably remain for a while if only because of its historic value. Obviously most people making and reading posts from here on in will just use the Foxtel branch.

I don't believe the NBN and Foxtel has any specific relationship. The NBN is designed to provide very fast access to anyone with media or data etc. If a household is connected to the NBN then their will be an array of providers offering content via it - Telstra, Foxtel, Optus, Last.fm, etc

I got a letter from Foxtel this week saying they intend to keep Austar and Foxtel customers separate. I also called Telstra to ask if they will be offering Foxtel to regional customers now that they own Austar and the answer was a resounding NO.

It looks like there won't be any changes for regional customers except the name on the bill.

If you click on "view new content" on this forum, you will see that very few threads, are foxtel or Pay TV  related.

The fact that foxy  now  has a controlling share of  Austar, has no relationship to this forum

I wondered if this forum would have relevance in the future if foxtel decides to rationalise the set  top boxes in to one supplier then the mystar boxes will not
have any relevance to the austar forum.

(If you click on "view new content" on this forum, you will see that very few threads, are foxtel or Pay TV  related.) quoted by basset.

If that is the case why do we pay for austar if its not pay tv

I'm moving from Bribie Island to Taree NSW and rang Foxtel last week to see what the procedure was. The lass informed me that Taree is an Austar area, and that shortly Austar will be known as "Foxtel Regional". Therefore a separate division I would guess.
