I live on south Bruny Island and can't get reception with this tv tuner on my Dell Studio 15 laptop (Windows Vista, up-to-date SPs). I would like some advice for amplifying the signal, but can't find anything via Google, or browsing this forum, or electronics stores websites, such as DSE. I'm assuming the solution would be an adapter to plug into the PCMCIA card, to connect an existing external antenna, instead of using the little spike antenna. However, I have no other television to confirm reception quality with the external antenna. My nextdoor neighbour has an external antenna pointing in the same direction (towards Kingston), so I'm assuming digital reception is fine. Also, the Australian digital tv website coverage map shows the area to have good reception.
The tuner worked fine with the little spike antenna, when living in Burnie (small city in north Tasmania). But if I ever touched the antenna, or any objects were placed near it or its cord, the picture would be disturbed. I used Windows media centre. I do not have wireless Lan or bluetooth devices, but do have a Telstra USB wireless broadband dongle (which didn't interfere with reception in Burnie).
Can anyone advise on where I might obtain PCMCIA tv tuner adaptor to coaxial cable? I've never set up a normal t.v. before, but have only used this setup previously to watch tv.
