I have a Homecast HT8000 and overnight the sound stopped playing.  The picture is fine.  Sound works through all other devices ie amp, DVD, TV, DM Port and Xbox.   It also records fine with sound.  Any clues???

Tried bypassing amp? Tried using analog audio output instead of digital, or vice versa?

I plugged the HDMI cable directly from the PVR to the TV bypassing the amp but still no sound then I tried the old RCA cables direct from PVR to TV and still no sound? Very confused!

Done a hard reset (ie. power off at the wall)?

That has worked for me every time the sound failed on our '8000

Never had the sound fail on mine ever, only prob I ever have is once in a blue moon when you change stations really fast, the tuners lock up and the unit says no signal. Hard reset fixes that.

Hi guys , had similiar problem with Aunt, and a Sony Blu-Ray Player.

Try Disconnecting HDMI, Turn power  off at Both Unit ( if it has it) and wall,
leave about 5 minutes re-connect HDMI and Power, Then turn on.
Hope it helps.

Had high hopes it would be that easy but no such luck!  Does anyone have any more ideas?

any more ideas?

Factory reset, then power off reset, (30 seconds should be fine), then retune.

Thank you M'bozo.  It worked, didn't even need to do the power off reset just came back on immediately it auto scanned the channels.
Thank you so much, much appreciated.
