Indications from Ridley Scott suggest that the Blu-ray release would be an extended edition! If its not, I'll be waiting until the extended edition does come out! Sick of studio's thinking we will buy 3 or 4 copies of the same film everytime they rerelease it... ie: Speical Edition, Extended Edition, 3D Edition, DTS Edition, 300min of Speical Features Edition etc... etc...etc... Whatever they come up with!

Best time to buy, if you don't suffer from instant gratification, is about 5-6 months after the initial release, a little earlier if the movie bombs...

Quote from Wikipedia;

"The film was originally intended as a direct prequel to the 1979 science fiction horror film Alien, set approximately 30 years before the events depicted in the film. Instead, a revised version of the new film will now explore a more stand-alone mythology based upon the race of giant beings discovered by the crew of the Nostromo in Alien.

... even so, it would be easier to have all discussion in the one thread.

There is nothing in the definition that precludes Prometheus from being described as a prequel (which, by definition it is) .... as I said, this is more of a marketing gimmick to create hype as  a result of fanatics arguing over it in internet forums and to suck in those who might otherwise be put off by the Alien franchise.

IMHO there is more than enough in the trailer to establish the correct and proper use of the word Prequel in regard to Prometheus.  The arguments to the contrary are a publicity stunt/viral marketing campaign..

I don't disagree with you Chops, in fact I agree, just I found that on Wiki. and thought it was relevant to what others had raised here.

Chillax mate, your obviously too used to sparring with certain people in OT/Clay. :lol:  ;)

And couldn't put this in the 'Alien - Prequel' thread as its not a thread about the blu-ray - its about the movie :). This thread is about the blu-ray... :)

I also noted the Prequel thread now has spoilers...

Plenty of LFE action pretty much the whole way through the film so those with decent Sub Woofers will find real sample material in this one....  yes I've seen it.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble,  But it's simply a bad re-run of  ''Alien ''

Space ship going God only knows where,   Girl hero, in  deep sleep pod, wakes up, space ship crashes,
Gets pregnant, to who knows what, machine delivers baby,  girl wanders off all alone on a the Planet,
fully recovered with a couple of dozen staples in her gut
End of..

How do i know,  I down loaded the thing three weeks ago.  Total waste of time

Not to mention that its already been in cinemas for over a week so those who wanted to see it most likely already have and "have made up their own minds", rather than listen to someone elses opinions. Its a awesome thing that we can all have our own opinions isnt it :)
