Yeah, just the stock intel cooler here. I didn't check the paste... I'm actually a bit scared to touch it again now it looks like everything is fine...

Phew.. :ninja:

Stock coolers (if still the same old Intel design without a back plate) do have the potential of working itself loose in rare conditions.

With your stock cooler, It may not be a good idea for the long term just re-securing it.. Coz the paste has been "baked" at 90 degrees C.. Chances are the paste has crusted/harden up somewhat... And there may well be little pockets of air between the cooler and the CPU (air = heat insulation) ... While it seems fine now, long term wise maybe not so good..

Looking at the temps, honestly it's not a big deal and not serious at all (esp if you don't overclock).

However since you get a free Netplus 2+1 warranty anyway, just bring it back to Netplus and have them do a proper job?  May well save you some grief in the long term...

When I feel up to it I'll reseat the cooler and reapply some paste. Do you think it's a hard job? I've never done it before... I suppose I can take it in to Netplus and get them to do it, but then there will be time where I don't have a PC :aww:

Since you havn't done this before I don't suggest you try this now.  :P

Don't fix things that ain't broken.

All things considered what I said is really a very very small risk... Nothing to be worried about at all as long as you don't overclock...

You can just leave it as it is and enjoy your movies.. :)

I think that's the best idea.  There's the potential for problems that myrantz has suggested but if the temps remain low and stable and the system works properly it's reasonable to assume everything is connected properly.

This episode make me wonder how many other people with PS3MS stuutering problems on higher spec'd PCs might be having heat issues?
