Digital radio listenership via DAB is slipping in the UK & is down to 19.1%. 46.2% of adults own a DAB radio at home, (but obviously many don't listen to it).
Analogue radio switch-off was expected to begin in the UK at the end of 2013, but with the current figures & trend, that has now been pushed back to likely 2020. The switch-off/switchover plan will not begin until 50% of all radio listening is done on digital.

I have no doubt similar things will happen here with DAB+ in the next couple of years.

My son got his first car a few months ago. First thing we did was modify it to make an AUX IN input (didn't have one) so he could listen to his ipod. I borrowed his car last week and found he has NEVER tuned it to a radio staion all the time he's owned it...
I think this is the real reason radio (analogue or digital) is dying; generation Xbox simply don't listen to it anymore.

I don't know how the Guardian came to that conclusion.
http://www.rajar.co....ase_2012_Q1.pdf shows what what they really said.

Sheds another view on the change in ratings values. Remember that there is yet to be full DAB coverage particularly with the strength to be used for portable radios using their own telescopic antenna and car radios. It is not expected to complete until 2015.

No surprises Alan, but you've just confirmed what the Guardian has said to be correct, with your posts to other links, contrary to what you've said.
The guardian said DAB (only) radio listenership has slipped from 19.4% in Q4 2011 to 19.1% in Q1 2012, as per my original post.
If you read near the bottom of the .pdf you last linked to under KEY DIGITAL RADIO FACTS (Sources: RAJAR Q1 2012, GfK, CAP/SMMT)
• Of all listening: 19.1% is to DAB Exactly as the guardian said.
Now read this, the Q4 2011 report. http://www.rajar.co....ase_2011_Q4.pdf
And have a look at the bottom of page 1. DAB listening increased its share from 15.8% in Q4, 2010 to 19.4% in Q4, 2011
DAB listening in the UK was 19.4% in Q4 2011 & is now at 19.1% in Q1 2012, just as the Guardian reported, DAB listenership has slipped, not increased.
Please read & comprehend, before posting garbage responses that just make you look silly Alan.

Glennp,
So a drop of 0.3 % is significant using a diary system??? More important is the increase of 3.6 over a year. This is like looking at inflation figures. They bounce around from sample to sample.
This is typical of statistics.

There is no point trying to have a logical discussion when it involves someone who so easily denies observable reality.

Its not the drop so much that significant as the complete lack of growth despite the past trend.
