I didn't see the first warning - it just went to the second one for some reason.
Overnight I found a local supplier for $212 and a Hong Kong one for $162... I am not brave enough to try the HK supplier but will try the Sydney one and report back later...

What was supplied was exactly the same as the OEM one.

As they sponsor this board I was going with them rather than PriceJapan until I found the other Sydney seller (who could be one in the same?) for $73 cheaper - from the photos it is OEM too...

While my JVC-350 lamp isn't that old, the front element has a crack and probably should be replaced.....

EDIT: myprojectorlamps.com.au wanted more for a bare bulb than PriceJapan wanted for the whole unit!!

You would have to ask that wouldn't you.....
On doing some research I found that it's actually not that uncomon for 350/550/950 series JVCs to have this type of failure.
However in my case it was probably because I let the filter get a bit clogged and it just got too hot for the poor sucker....

I had the same issue on first HD750 and agree that it is likely heat related. Used to run PJ in summer without aircon and got up to 28 degrees in room so probably a lot hotter inside PJ. Lamp cracked at about 500 hours.
Got an aircon unit and second HD750 has gone 2 years without incident though lamp needs changing at 1000 hours as not bright enough for me.
Have new one from Pricejapan and will replace when new HT room goes live!

I ordered early yesterday afternoon and it was delivered by air express in less than 24 hours from NSW to SA. I was given tracking : 17 May 2012 00:00 Freight Manifest Transmitted 17 May 2012 17:05 Auburn Picked Up from Sender 17 May 2012 19:43 Sydney DFPC Arrived at AaE Location for processing 18 May 2012 05:46 Adelaide Arrived at AaE Location for processing 18 May 2012 07:46 Adelaide Onboard with courier driver for delivery 18 May 2012 13:26 Norwood Delivered and signed by .......
The parcel was as big as a shoebox and inside the first wrapper was a sturdy box with a smaller box packed in "cheezels" Inside this small box was the new lamp fitting in an original looking enclosure tightly bound by custom carved squishy foam.
There was only one difference I could see and that the two long screws to fit it into the PJ had slightly larger screw heads on them than the original. But as these units fit multiple PJs - it might be exactly the same on a more modern unit?
I fitted the new lamp and cleaned the filter at the same time. When it came to re-zeroing the new lamp hours it took a little while to work it out - you have to be superquick entering the first three buttons and hold down the last one for at least three seconds.
I am now in lust again with my "new PJ" the image just really pops now.
It is amazing that I had to check that it wasn't in High mode etc...
To add icing onto the cake they give you a 180 day guarantee on the globe..... Sooo if you are in the need I can recommend Pureglare at Auburn...

Extremely well packaged, just like MJR, and has a couple of manufacturing stickers showing a date of 12/5/12 so not old stock either.......
Today's job is to install it and pack the old (cracked front element) globe away as an 'emergency replacement'.
Can highly recommend Pureglare for globes based on cost and service, now to see how well the globe holds up over time.
