My trusty old Panasonic 700 which I bought second hand on this forum around 7 years ago has finally gone toes up :(

The lamp error light is lighten up so I assume the lamp has run out of puff

I bought some movies to watch but alas have sound but no picture :(

So I jump online for the main culprits e.g. Good Guys, JB, HN etc. but they don't appear to be pushing projectors these days. I was going to buy one this afternoon, now all I can do is cry into my milk.

Where does one go to buy a projector in Melbourne these days?

hi spearmint, sorry to hear on the ole panasonic !

mat from the cable connection is pretty local and seems pretty helpfull to us forum folk.
http://www.thecableconnection.com.au/

otherwise cleff hifi have a good range as do big picture people. the other specialist stores are good too, but can be a bit more concentrating on the pricier end of things.

good to look out for the group buys here as well that seem to pop up. not sure what all are still active but there were group buys on panasonic, jvc and epson pjs going at one stage. good luck. :)

Sucks the big one; but about time you lashed out and updated your PJ.

Agree with Al re Cableconnection and he should give you a great price on the Epson 9000 which is what Al has. Yorac is about to start another group buy for that PJ.

If unsure what to buy then would demo a few; but there appears to be real happy Epson 9000 users from the last GB.

At present I would say the Epson 9000 and JVC X30 appear to be the two forum favourites with the Panny 7000AE close third; but the Mitsubishi HC9000d appears to be a dark horse and supposedly can be had in the low to mid 5's.

Given you are a 16:9 man I suspect the Epson would fit your bill and appears to work well with the AVP. ( Al will vouch for that)  :phone:

Have you had your AVP upgraded yet?

Thanks Bbar, and yes the projector was long overdue for an upgrade however it hardly gets any use

Re the AVP, no I've done nothing with it, I haven't even bothered with firmware updates. Today was the first time I've fired up the HT components since early February. They don't get used much :)

Thanks for the feedback

I was hell bent on going out and buying one this afternoon so I could watch my movie, but now that I need to wait until next week I'll do some homework on the models suggested.

Thanks all for taking the time to answer my query
