watching two 2D contents at the same time…? Why and who would want to do that. I mean, wouldn’t it be a bit childish to argue over what show to watch? And on top of that, it's so easy to rewatch content from the internet, especially if it's a smart tv. and what about the sound?

jsmith, oh Jeebus! I'm just compounding things here aren't I?! :o  Yes, I mean't "wasn't".

yojovo, I think the idea is to be able to show two programs at the same time using the 3D glasses to filter one program from the other.  Kind of gimmcky.

Interesting efficiency though. Usually achieved by one person going to watch their show in the bedroom. Agree though it sounds like another one of those marketing 'capabilites' (like mobile phone face unlocking recognition) that in practice is clumsy and reduces the PQ and people don't use after one go.

I'd say VERY gimmicky. I just find that feature really useless lol the face unlocking recognition in the phone at least is a good idea that could be developed into something once technology is better. But watching two 2D contents at the same time is just plain stupid.  I mean, if they want to develop some kind of split screen replacement tech, dual play was the way to go. LG is playing it smart and appealing to the gamers.

Hadn't thought of that aspect but I'd have thought a dual view mode would have been gold for gamers. Instead of multi-player Mario Carts with the screen segmented into small views, each player could use the same full screen TV to play against each other - that could be pretty neat.

I'm pretty sure that's precisely what this is - it's dual view but for TV (and possibly DVD/BD??) instead.
