Kordia owns and operates New Zealand's third largest telecommunications network by geographical reach and provides terrestrial transmission services for all the major television operators. The new DVB-T2 service will be delivered from 19 main sites and will be deploying a single physical layer pipe (PLP). It has chosen modulation parameters that will provide comparable coverage to their existing DVB-T services. However, the new technology has raised the data rate achievable in an 8 MHz channel from 26 Mb/s to 38 Mb/s allowing IGLOO TV to operate 12 SD services in a single former analog TV channel. The DVB-T2 MI signal is distributed over its nationwide IP network as a multicast IP stream, feeding the transmitters directly with an IP stream, thereby simplifying the number of devices in the distribution network." No, this time he's right - IGLOO is currently an internet streaming service; Kordia have built / provided a DVB-T2 broadcast network for them. Expected launch is mid-year.
Put simply, IGLOO is starting up a PPV service over DTV. Apparently they're using some form of conditional access / access control, but I can't be arsed looking up the details.
Alan, all this could have been avoided if you'd linked the source for your quote. I realise you 'credited' DVB.org at the end of your quote - and I too have been guilty of that in another thread where I mentioned DVB.org as a source when presenting a summary from several - but the straight, up and down, unadorned fact of the matter is that your posts are generally a waste of time and space without some sort of supporting link.
And if you're going to quote a whole press release please, at the very least, link the damned thing. I know you can manage that, because you've done it in multiple other threads you've started over the last few days. You may have obtained the press release you've quoted through some mysterious source that we don't have access to and you are unable to reveal - but it's also readily available on the 'net, and has been for the last week.
(I look forward to the soon-to-be-released by alanh announcement that Haiti is launching DVB-T2. My source? That same link...)

According to wikipedia, its a 30-day prepaid service, but will have extra PPV and streaming material. (See promo video on main igloo webpage, or citation 5 on linked page - also mentioned specifically a PPV sports channel)
