I just picked up the Pioneer BDP Blu-ray player at JB.
It was on sale for $136.
It can do 3D and most importantly SACD.
I have given it a quick test with DSOTM and Brothers in arms.
So far so good.
More later as i need to read up on it.
Does anyone else have this model?
Paul.

wow that is cheap for a player that can do both 3D and sacd.  good find. which player is this exactly ? as few on the website.

I notice they even have a player that does both sacd and dvda a bit pricier though.

wonder if they have maintained dvd region free with these players as they once did. something you can check paul ?

Prob the BDP140, friends of mine bought 1 as part of a complete HT system in January. Can confirm sacd capability.

Al and cooksta,
Correct it is the 140.
The PQ is amazing even watching something from a USB memory stick.
DVD-a/SACD is also great.
It does wi-fi(adaptor needed)
I'll give it good test on the weekend.
Paul.

No, the BDP-140 does not play DVD-Audio discs - just CD/SACD as well as Blu-ray and DVD.

The higher cost BDP-440 adds DVD-Audio compatibility.

There is a lengthy discussion about the BDP-140 and BDP-440 on the AVSForum site.

Cooksta,
it will play DD 5.1,DTS 5.1,
but not the advanced Resolution multi-channel surround sound(96 kHz/24-bit)
and advanced Resolution stereo(192kHz24 bit).
So i'll just have to be happy with that.
Paul.

I also have one of these.
It's a very good player.
I also have a 42 inch Panasonic plasma.
What's the best option for surround sound?
This is all new to me as i have just left home and not sure.

Thanks MB.

Genesis Invisible Touch is an outstanding SACD if you are into them, mastered at a higher rez and includes a DVD
