Advice please. Purchased the above STB ages ago but didn't open it till now. Found the remote is missing and now have no comeback. Searched eBay - no results. Also Googled; 1 or 2 possibilities for replacement, though don't appear to be genuine Kaon remote.

Question for the knowledgeable folks - would you throw good money after bad and buy a replacement controller, or should I just replace / chuck the box and get a current model?

If the latter, any suggestions on what to buy?

Also, any intelligence on what the govt is going to do about the analog to digital problem? I believe Gillard is going to give everyone a STB but that sound ludicrous when the new TVs will be around the same price. Will be interesting, as I have 5 TVs in the house.

Thanks,
Irena

You might look at buying a Harmony universal remote (They do work, don't bother with an el  cheap o)
Aldi were selling the 300 model for $14.99 a few weeks ago, they may be some left.
Check first on the Logitech website that your box is supported, I immagine it will be, there's not much that isn;t covered.

The government household assistance scheme is only available to people on a full pension.

Also, anyone on a full pension is not entitled to a free STB if there is one or more TV with a digital tuner or STB in the house.

I knew I'd kept the  twelve inch, Black and White  tellie for a reason.

Yes, I ws going to suggest Logitech Harmony. I have one. They cover a vast range of brands. I also agree (don't buy an el cheapo) they are a waste of money. Most don't work.

Thanks Col & others. Found a Kaon in the end for $25. Not the one that came with my model but was labelled "Kaon Spare Remote". Did the trick. Only disappointed with one thing though - when watching some channels, the sound is ludicrously faint! My Sharp tele in the kitchen is generally set to "15" volume. I've had to crank it up to 40 to hear some channels. Then if I switch back to analog, say Ch7, it blows my eardrums out if I forget to turn it back down.

I need to find out why.

Ha ha, me too. And I'll have to hide my new LED when the time comes! Knew that loft conversion would come in handy for something.
