yes 'amused to death,' what a fantastic album, probably my all-time favourite album. having my favourite guitarist on it, jeff beck, helps too.
also has my all-time favourite guitar solo on it as well, track 10, what god wants part 3. wow, an album of favourites!!!
i like radio KAOS too.

i'm annoyed at waters as surely a songwriter writes heaps of stuff, yet this album was released years ago, yet there is no further rock albums from him. i know he's touring a lot, but still.

my favourite music dvds would be the wall in berlin, with all those guest musicians. they were all great except for cindy lauper imo.
concert for george.
those two would be my most favourite followed by:
also the freddie mercury tribute concert.
and live love in london by king's x.
jeff beck at ronnie scott's.

I went through the same experience. I did pretty much what has been suggested here - listening to  other sources of music.

At the time, and as I was living in Darwin, the choices were limited. First JJJ - but that didn't hit the spot. Then, whilst station surfing, the dial landed on ABC Classic FM. The rest, as they say, is history.

The advantage of such a revolutionary change of direction is that there was so much to learn. For (a simple) example, what is the difference between a Sonata and a Concerto?

Another advantage is that the repertoire is so large. Another example: over Easter I caught the end of a piece (ABC Classic FM again) that had me spellbound. A little detective work and with the expert help of the staff at Discurio, I now have a CD that is ranks in my Top 5.

The piece was Vaughan Williams' "The Lark Ascending". Truly haunting. Truly wonderful. Moreover, given my predilection for vinyl, I wonder whether it would "work" equally well for me if I had a vinyl copy. Hmm...

Of course, YMMV.

Good luck in your search.

from their first lp which kerrang! named as their record of the year.

this one has the best ending to a song i've ever heard. it also shows how tight the band is.

Listened to the above and found it not my cup of tea.

this is when they were in the 'heavy' period.[my favourite period.]

at last, an actual moving video!

Definitely heavier and liked it better than the above.

The reason why your not happy they force absolute rubbish down our throats
via TV and commercial radio everyday. If only we had mobile internet radio
like Sirius XM.

A couple of bands you will enjoy.
UFO and Triumph, both been around for a long time and still going.
Rush are another band that just keeps producing great music.
A little on the heavier side is the 2 Judas Priest albums with Tim Ripper Owens singing. Demolition and Jugulator, the most underatted hard rock albums
of all time. Got no recognition due to Rob Halford not being vocalist.
Also try some new stuff like Black Country Communion. It has Glenn Hughes from Deep Purple on vocals and
legendary guitarist Joe Bonamassa. Not to mention Jason Bonham on Drums.

I could go on forever but these were a couple that come to mind from Kings X.

I was feeling the same way about music for many years, it's a rut thing maybe. I agree with the others that exposure to more is the key, there is so many different sounds, styles and tastes. Listen to different things, experiment and listen to as much different stuff as you can and you will new tunes to enjoy. Sure there will be tons that doesn't float your boat but when you do find something really different that you enjoy it's well worth the effort.

Then theres also maybe trying the old favs but with different artists and styles. Here's a quick one I like, Stairway to Heaven by rodrigo and gabriela

Or from the same artists,

thanks.
i have two priest albums, british steel and the one everyone seems to dislike, turbo. i'll check out those ripper owens albums though.

many years ago i was mad for ufo!
i have 5 of their albums. actually my favourite is another that ufo fans don't seem to like and thats misdemeanor. the guitarist is
atomik tommy m, and his sound is so fantastic. after that one i'd say my next favourite would be force it.

i'll check out triumph as well.

i'd love to find some prog-rock group that blew me away. mind you i don't really like the usual subjects when it comes to this style.
i find yes and gabriel's genesis boring. i have the two lps of theirs straight after he left.
obvioulsy love pink floyd
have a couple of albums by camel.
Mmmm, just looking at that, maybe i don't like prog-rock after all? maybe its the idea of prog-rock? how can a fan of that style dislike yes and genesis?
