Reality is that the Australian Blu Ray market is very small and these databases rely on users making contributions, so it will not be until a user has bought a particular Australian title, and manually entered the details, that it will become available in the database.

After trying several programs, i have decided to go with Movie Collector from Collectorz.com for my Mac.
Really like the look and layout and so far has been able to recognise or locate all my movies.

Really appreciate all the suggestions and feedback from all - THANK YOU.

thats good to hear. downloaded to check out. was a zero hit rate on the discs I tried. but I suppose to be expected on something as new as this. dont think I like the way it takes a flash powered picture of the barcode to read it either. think prefer dvd profiler overall. hit rate of all but 10 or so discs in over 400 that it recognised is pretty good over all :) but yeah will keep an eye out on this one. imagine being blu-ray com based think would end up having some good support ?

Well i have reached the 100 movie limit on my trial version of Movie Collector from Collectorz.com and am super impressed with it.
Sooo easy to use, looks great and most of all got a 99% hit rate with my movie collection, yep thats an amazing 99 movies recognised out of the 100 i loaded. (didn't pick up the triple play version of The Social Network from Aus) the other 99 were a mixture of movies from Australia, UK and the USA.

Very happy indeed and will purchase it with the barcode scanner.

Isn't one of the features of these softwares being able to scroll to your movie then click on it and it plays with having to fumble with harddrives, be it ISO,DVD, BD etc. So what if you want to view your catalog on your TV screen without having having to turn on and connect a PC?

Apple TV and XBMC lets you do this.

with dvdprofiler. with failure of being able to synch back from iphone to the pc. basically with help from guys on the forum got to bottom of some issue with the way iphone was working. so save about 20 discs that wouldnt synch to the pc the only way found was to wipe my database on the phone and then synch back database had on the pc back to the phone.

and then decided to add in those rogue titles into the pc instead which synched back to the iphone and ipad no probs at all !

what I found is basically dvd profiler works a treat overall. where it struggles is where come across in any new release aussie titles which might not be on the data base already. scan them in and add them in via the iphone and bulk of them have trouble synching back to the pc database.

so instead have started adding in any I dont find on the dvd profiler direct in through the pc. given I tend to be often buying new releases all of a sudden now am contributing title after aussie new release title onto the dvdprofiler database.

so yeah overall have to say the system itself does work. and work well. just with how handles new releases through the iphone :)

maybe I should buy a little scanner for my netbook :)

I am a fan of DVDprofiler and add titles manually as I get them a couple at a time so no biggie to enter UPC.

Out of 400+ blu-rays only 2 did not recognize UPC as their database was different. Both from US. Most are US followed by UK titles. Only have a dozen or so Aus titles.

how are you entering titles not recognised via the upc, bbar. using iphone as well or you going in via the pc ?

Via PC. If UPC not on file then used title as mode of entry and selected one they have in database. I had a couple US ones that it did not recognise and funny enough it was in database under different UPC. So entered title and selected the US version I had and all ok.

Now, if not in database then would have to select another version if one wanted the title cataloged, unless one is allowed to enter the data and then upload to their system.

ah.... I don't think there's a free/trial iPhone version - you didn't mention iPhone version till now. There is a PC version that links to the iPhone version if you have it.

same here, now using it via my netbook, ipad and iphone. where it just gets stuck I've found if you add in movies in via iphone and not being able to synch back with few movies to the database on the netbook. but since have only added in new movies via the netbook all has gone really well :)
