Hi all,

I am wanting to know in simple terms how Foxtel connects to my TV and how I can utilise it's connectivity by either watching Foxtel in another room and connection to a receiver/amp.

Here are a couple of my scenarios:

1. Went to watch TV using built-in HD TV channels but kept getting no signal? Does Foxtel plug into my TV into the aerial socket or somewhere else?
2. Can I connect Foxtel to a projector as well as my normal TV? I have a HD set top box that I previously used to connect to projector, can this perhaps integrate with Foxtel?
3. Can I connect Foxtel to a receiver/amp but still have the option to get audio from normal TV speaker as well as surround sound speakers that are connected to the receiver?

Would really appreciate any help, advice or feedback.

Diagrams or pictures would be great too!

It would help if you describe your TV. How old, what make/model, what inputs does it have. Also, what  in/outputs does your receiver/amp have?

I'm helping out a friend try and get his connections sorted as I am unfamiliar with his tv and amp.

The TV is a no name brand.
It uses a breakout cable to connect component, RCA, S-Video.
It has 3x HDMI inputs.
It does not have any optical/toslink inputs/outputs.

The receiver is a Denon AVR 2807.

My Foxtel iQ does not have HDMI.
Instead I am using a SCART to COMPONENT (TV OUT on iQ box) cable that is going directly into the TV.
I am then using RCA from the back of the Foxtel iQ unit to the Denon AVR to have the option for audio.

Does anyone know why there is another VCR SCART output on the back of the Foxtel iQ box?

Projector is an IBM brand and does not have HDMI.
It does have component though.
How would I connect this to the Foxtel iQ unit?

Best option, call foxtel, book a service call and get rid of the old box and get it replaced with IQ 1.5 which has HDMI for your TV, optical or digi co-ax for digital audio and scart to component for projector...just tell em your box is shutting down a few times intermittently every day----you will lose all your recordings and will have to set up your series li8nks again....also dont give the old remote back as you wont be charged for it anyway and will save you $$$$ if you need a new one.

just a couple of quick questions in response to your informative that i'm still unsure of:

1. where would i use the component splitter?
2. TV does not have optical or digital co-ax for audio, any other suggestions?

i would like to use what i have for the moment however if i do stumble across more issues i will upgrade the iQ box.

i think by upgrading i will also lose out on all my multi-room setup though

i'm stuck on the component splitter bit for connection of fox box to projector.
can you give me an idea on what a component splitter is and where it needs to plug in to.
i've seen all sorts of results in google and not sure which is which!

yes, i have the mutli room setup as RF from my current iQ1 fox box.
i was told in another thread that i would lose the multi room signal to the additional tv's should i upgrade to iQ2 (black fox box)
