Strange how the IQHD boxes don't come with them.....must be dated tech....disappointing.

Got picture in picture in picture in both my TV and FTA PVR and never used it so don't really care if the IQHD doesn't have it. By the way,  the IQHD is an excellent PVR, not disappointing at all.

Handy when two sports events are on at the same time. This is on FTA. I'd imagine it'd be even more useful on Foxtel.
PiP is so 2003. Back then I used my VCR/TV tuner to switch around. These days I record two shows in tandem. Watch the first, skipping forward when I want to. Then I watch the second at my own pace too. Invariably PiP watchers want to watch one show fully and keep tabs on a second one. Twin tuners allow this. Pip doesn't

Yes, that was my thinking behind the PiP idea...

The FOXTEL iQ/iQ2 boxes already have mutiple tuners.... so all they need to do add PiP functionality to allow 2 of them to be viewed at once.

It's not that easy.. I think it would require using another of the four tuners (if the PiP channel is on a different transponder) which would thereby reduce the simultaneous recording ability.

The IQ2 is at least 4 years old, surely they could have developed one with more tuners in that time

Got Picture in Picture on two of my TV's and use it all the time on the weekends to watch the NRL and AFL at the sametime.

Foxtel said the next IQ will be released before the London Olympics.
Given that Foxtel only likes to use Pace STB's, the current new dual sat/terrestrial PVR's are:
Pace HDS 7240
http://www.pace.com/...ellite/hds7240/

But I do think the new stackable DZS5000 HD PVR has better potential as the next IQ:

I don't know what the full list of stackable options are, but if you could stack 4 sat tuners and 2 terrestrial tuners (or more) then Foxtel could have a versatile future STB.

Well what I would like to see is:

most is the ability to play what's on one Foxtel IQ2 box on another IQ2 box in the same house (networked devices).  TIVO has had this functionality for years.

the ability to use iPad/iPhones to replay recorded material from an IQ2 box within the sam WiFi network.  Again a number of US cable companies in the US have had this for a while now.

The ability to use an iPad/iPhone to access their catchup service

I agree with the PIP suggestion. I often use PIP when my wife is waiting for one of her shows to come on (which are often running late), I am able to watch another program for 5 minutes with the other channel in the bottom corner of the screen- BRILLIANT!!! One added bonus would be if you could switch the audio bewteen channels without changing the PIP. I could be watching my NRL in the smaller screen while the the kids are watching cartoons, something big happens and I can hear what has happened.

My understanding with IQ2 is if you are watching a show and later press record, it will record from the point you began watching. I would like an on screen option "Record from beginning or current point".

Make tv series have the ability to be 'series linked'. Often I record a show and am interested in the series but it seems only a select few have this feature.

Let you customise your recorded programs into folders or catagories. Also customize your TV Guide so it only displays the channels you have.

These things are more of an update rather than the next big thing.

You should get an Austar box then. Does all that.
