just turned on my ps3 and it gives me a black screen except for a couple of green barson the right hand side of the screen. i googled this but could not find anything. has anyone here had this issue before? i get the start up noise but then nothing after that.any help is appreciated

try a hard reset, hold the reset button for about 8 seconds to do a hard reset. ive never had that problem . i have a Fat v1 PS3. what one is your ps3

Could be the HDMI cable. Got a spare HDMI cable handy to substitute it?

After four attempts at turning the unit off and on it finally got back to normal. thanks for the replies though
