The only disc in my collection I have a slight difficult in understanding the spoken word is PHANTOM OF THE OPERA (25thA) which was captured live at the Royal Albert Hall.  This is theater and not cinema, so even whilst it was shot on HD, it was done so live.  The solution?  As gramps from the Simsons says "Turn it up!"

Yes, found the soundtrack to be lower than the norm, but just talking is soft etc.Only a few scenes are loud as they should .

Going from one extreme to another I watched Immortals after Drive, Immortals really gives subs a workout, and is a visual treat.

Cheers Victor.

Did Ryan gosling even speak in Drive..?
seriosuly he must've said maybe 200 words for the entire movie.

but anyway, I did find his dialogue low when i first watched the DVD version. (i use -8dB normally)
since then i had re-calibrated my entire system (Audyssey) after moving some speakers and actually watched it at reference level in those scenes i knew were off, and same issue.
it's just the mix and how they want it to sound.
enabling Audyssey Dynamic Volume did help a lot in getting his dialogue up where it needs to be for normal people, but it removes the impact from the rest of the soundtrack.
