Welcome to Version 4.  You will need to log back in with your Display Name and/or Email Address.  If you don't know this, please issue a password or account reset to obtain the details you need. Some posts will appear "broken" (links, quote text, et al).  The forum is rebuilding all content which will take some time to complete.  Once this is done, the "missing" posts should also hopefully reappear. • They're not overly hard to put in... there's no soldering. If you have replaced a HDD in a PC, you'll be fine. Otherwise send it to Gattiweb and have them install for you? To me an Oppo without a region mod is rather incomplete.  If you want a cheap, easy solution to play the odd region locked disc... grab a Laser BDP. They're reasonably cheap and allow a region change A/B/C via a menu option or remote code. JSmith
    • Hi, I think there may be some words missing, as it makes not much sense to me. What are directors?. I appreciate the links, but this is a caravan, so switching from horiz. to vert. is slightly difficult. Plus, I have an idea it's a quite large antenna. I do have an old 'van antenna which looks similar, but missing the rear element, and several of the front (UHF) ones. From what I read then, the wings do SFA? Question is: does it do horiz. & vert? Yes, I agree, read a book (eReader of course), but my wife prefers TV, without which I won't be reading! Plus, who wants mix with people who would talk to me? ;p
I just noticed that the specs state it's "Directional", I would have sworn it said "Omni" before! If it's directional, the only way to point it is to turn the 'van. I guess I'll have see how it goes. Satking do sell one without "wings", which is for Marine & Caravan, that is "Omni". But no indication of multi-polarity, or not. I haven't heard back from them yet. Thanks, dRdoS7.
    • Cheers guys, Unfortunately i'm not game to delve inside the machine... was hoping for a quick fix...peeved lifestyle store didnt mention it wasnt region free before installing the thing for me...
    • my last projector was an x500 and i sold that with about 1700 hours on the globe.....i did not notice any discernible decrease in globe brightness....but having said that i think you dont really notice a gradual decrease when you use it alot.  I will see how things look at 2000 hours and go from there.....mine has been on low power all its life but if i have to get a new one at 2000 then thats life.....i purchased knowing that i would be spending money on globes.....im completely ok with that
    • Mate, all those links Alan H has given you may be all good, but overall not really helpful... just adding to confusion. Your antenna is probably as good as any... I would take a Winegard over all, but as you don't have one just go out and try what you have, as long as you are within a country town range with digi transmission you'll be fine, if way out then the VAST satellite setup for travellers may be the better option, as it works everywhere.  Most installers don't want to go near caravan antenna setups as there are many variables depending where you are; as you are aware: direction, polarisation, amplification needed or not, UHF/ VHF etc. Most places outside of capital cities are now mostly UHF ( band 4/5), some will be H polarised, more often though V polarised. I'm no expert in OZ wide transmission sites... but the info is easily available online from region/town to the next. Just get on out there and enjoy this great land... if you can't get TV at some point, so what... read a book or whatever. Chat to your fellow dudes on the cruise.Cheers.C
