The BDX1100 can not (as far as I know) be made region free. BDX1105 can if you get hold of the correct firmware. The BDX1100 does also not have any USB interface, only SD-card.

Someone else with a similar problem got it solved by turning CEC off in the setup menu. I know that CEC shouldn't have anything to do with playback, but you can try and see if it helps.

When the trailers started I was able to hit the 'pop up menu' button and 'play movie' was a selection along with 'top menu'. The latter failed again but the former allowed the movie to be played.
Not ideal but at least it can can be watched, on something other than the PS3.

I just bought the toshiba 1200ky and it didn't come with the upgrade disc or card explaining what to do. I've tried entering the code at the set-up screen and it does open the sub menu but won't allow me to change DVD or BluRay region setting. Spoke to Toshiba and they say the units aren't region free?? Anyone able to help please?

Hi Mitcon
I purchased the 3200 as I imported a Region A blu-ray. Turned out to be an expensive blu-ray! My unit did not have the upgrade disc as well. Go to post 33 by Baboy, he's included a link that explains how to download and install the firmware which allows you to change regions. Worked for me.

Edit: tried several more times, got it to work in the end. Had to use a different brand USB drive, lol seems the BDP didn't like any of the Toshiba USB drives I have.

And all for a very respectable $140.00. I've locked my to Region A as there does't appear to be too many Region B locked discs in my collection.
Well done guys....I was on the verge of buying the Oppo 95 or Cambridge 751. Probably will eventually but will wait now for the new Oppo rumoured due out this year.

Tried the free download 3 times and every time it disrupted about 3/4 of the way through ie after about 8 mins.
Very frustrating.
And no I didn't get a disc.

Has anyone else had this "feature" crop up? I have downloaded the latest version of the firmware and I'll try that. If anyone else knows something else to try I am all ears, otherwise they may have to take that back to the shop and get a Panasonic DVD-R from somewhere (there aren't many DVD-R machines around any more).
All help gratefully received. Cheers,
Al.
