Prior to finding this thread i have been leaning towards the 880Gl and thought it may be the way to go  but now i am asking if there is a alternative to it available ?.
The BWT800 replaces the older BW880. Main differences is the bigger HDDs (1TB compared with 500GB), 3D capabilities, etc

I miixed it up
I was looking for a alternative to the BWT800 not the BW880 seeing all the limitations on this current model,
would there be another manufacturer that comes even close to this even including the TB storage ?

Nope - not in Australia

Panasonic are the only ones making a Bluray recorder. Samsung and LG have Bluray players with some DLNA capabilities, but your best bit is a HTPC

Rats !!!  :o
Thanks for that Mick, i suppose HTPC is the way to go not having built one before or doing it the easy way & biting the bullet and throwing my lot in
with the BWT800 . Any one out there own the BWT800 and can give me any pointers on the functionality and plus and minuses of actually using and
owning one ?

Hi, wondering if anyone is using the SKYPE function on their DMR bwt800gl, or 700gl? and if so some feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff.

Well, the 700GL is selling for $680 at Costco, and the warranty lasts as long as I remain a member of Costco.

That's better than in England where the warranty seems to last as long as you remain in the shop. They don't have a 'return if you are unhappy policy'
