I am looking for a new panel but have limited dollars.  I know this is an older model but DJ in Melbourne still have new sets at discounted price of $700.

I dont really care about 3d, smart or media playback capability.  My existing 2 panels are 768p 50inch pana and samsung panels which I have been more than happy with but due to a family split I am back in the market for a new panel.

Does this panel at this price still stack up against current offerings?  eg -I know I can get a 50inch LG smart / 3d for not much more but am more interested in picture quality than the extra capabilities I know I wont use much.  Any advice appreciated.

The S20 was a fairly cheap set from Panasonic. It's not a bad buy at $700, but for $800 you can get the newer u30 or maybe push for a UT30 model.

Thanks Mick - will look further.  It's been a while since i've researched and just trying to get a feel for values.

Yeah Hodge i concur with diesel for sure, prices will keep going lower as CHina is going to flood our shores with there electronics more then ever this year so hopefully you can grab a U30 for around the same price but yeah maybe steer clear of that s20a mate as you'll do better for the same if not a little bit more :D

Cheers V
