What type of input do you use on Av1: Svhs connector or cvbs cinch?

Nicodocet

Both the SAT decoder composite Video output and RH1999H composite video input on AV1 is RCA only. :-(
I don't think this is caused by interference however (if you're going, where I think you're going.. )

That's another tragedy about this recorder, it only has a normal composite video RCA input on AV1 and on AV2 on  the front panel a S-video input at least.

What about opening your recorder? See the I/O board, the one were the tuner is placed, and give a look at it to look for free space were you find Scart connectors in our model (see RH188 image in my web-page)..... if all is as I think, you can solder a scart connector on the I/O board, to support RGB input..... with no background falshes! I have none in mine with latest fw!

Let me know.

I have spoken to an LG engineer/technician and he thinks I may have a problem in the video signal up-scaling circuitry (to HDTV resolution).  Why this only happens with a DSTV Sat decoder video signal I don't understand either, perhaps the video amplitude or luminance component is out of the range of the recorder scaling circuit input? But it does not happen when you input, say for instance, another DVD player video signal into the recorder.  The  flashing is also only predominant on bright background Decoder video.

And when the Decoder video signal is input directly to the plasma TV video input there is also absolutely nothing wrong with the picture, in fact it's perfect - no flashing. This problem is not acceptable to me. As the unit is still under warrantee, I am taking it to a LG service centre today to see if they can improve/repair it. Failing that I am going to get a refund and buy something else, even if I have to fork out more money.

Modifying it? Not at this stage, I feel the unit should perform 100% as is.

But thanks for the advice.

For your information. I have found the problem.  The SAT decoder that I currently have is not HD compatible   (I knew that but conveniently I ignored the fact!), the video sync rate is too low and not compatible with the upscaler circuitry in the RH1999H, thus causing only the upscaled output on HDMI and component output to have the sporadic flash. (Obviously No problems on un-up-scaled video outputs!)

In the new DSTV PVR decoder this problem is solved (higher compatible video sync rate) and the even newer PVR model to be released soon is 100% HD compatible: SOLUTION - BUY A NEW HD compatible PVR DECODER!

Anyaway, problem solved.

You said that the new new RH2000 series has the hw is nearly identical, what is the differents and can we install RH2000, firmware, on to RH1999H?

It would be geat to have the fast copy option on this model, as well.

I found only some difference in DAC chip, and some minor ones, but I think they aren't critical.
I'm waiting for someone who gets the RH2xx fw to make some compatibility tests.... but no one I know has it.

Is someone of you, who owns a RH1xxx recorder, familiar with assembly language?
We need some help about.

May be, with a little help, the copy fast is caming!!!!

Nicodocet,

My son has a RH 1999H (Australian), and is happy with it with one exception.

When he uses the card reader slots to capture digital photographs to the HDD, the capture is successful but he is then not able to transfer the photographs from the HDD to a CD or DVD. This is confirmed in the owners handbook as correct.

Is there any way to enable this feature, please?

Rob.

Till now, I don't know how to enable this features.
It's due to a fw restriction.

Thanks for your reply.

Is there a possibility that you will come up with a solution for this?

Is no one curious?

Hi,
I have the 177 US model with version=60911A_NT Cware=3620_p15 Loader SL40
OP codes:
1:90
2:00
3:00
4:59
5:0E
6:9D
7:03
8:01

I know on that site the ifndef.altervista.org/index_eng.html the 60519 FW is corupt zip!
I know is the only one that could enable the 0 7 times thing.
Also it keeps the setting after upgrade to 60911. So I need to downgrade and upgrade.
Or it is another way?

Thanks Nicodocet

Exactly how is called your model in the US?

The 60519 FW is corupt zip! Are you sure' I'll check it....

You have no need to downgrade... if you have the 60911A installed, use the region-free patch.

Hi,
Thanks for the fast response,

Yes, it is a LRH-780 canadian model, made in taiwan.
The file is still corupt, try this morning again.
The OP codes look ok to you?
Is the zone free patch safe? There is a way to save the firmware? I will like to have a copy before apply any patch.
I mean the 60911A_NT maybe it means a NTSC flavor of the original 60911_A only firmware.

Thanks again nicodocet

Before other attempts, try this:

OP6: 8D .....

Check with a DVD from other region than yours if it is played.

Well, I do not know what changed in that info window, because the data is the same as posted before.
version=60911A_NT Cware=3620_P15 BSP=DMN3 FME Loader=SL40 I/O MICOM=R60,(D61)
Is another way to obtain the region info?

Ok, here we go:
1 method:
Model Name = RH1000 series
Region Code : Free
Loader Ver=SL40 HDDsize=80GB .....same old ones..60911A_NT, Cware....1394 ID=......

Second method:
Region No: 0
Chip ID: DOMINO 1
MICOM VER: SET

Also a nice bonus I tryed, recording AV1 from my oldie but goldie Norcent DP300 DVD player, with macr disabled, worked on the LG nicely!
Cool.

Well done!
Your recorder is realy region-free.... the OPs region hack works greatly. I didn't try it before, becuase I apllied the patch, and with it the hack doesn't work.

If you have time, could you try to set OP6: FD (this enable region code 7.... this code in some player - also from LG - seems to have collateral effects to macro******)

Hi,
I did have some time today to change the op codes:
ad: region 2
bd: region 3
cd: region 4
dd: region 5
ed: region 6 and surprise
fd: region 2

Seems that 7 is no longer available as an option. Maybe someone with older FW can try.
If this can bring some major benefits( like cpy), I will consider downgrading my FW...
Or my 60911A_NT is different?
Regards,
