I quite like the Stargates but I can't stand Farscape or Battlestar Gallactica.
Don't mind Battlestar as it has greatly respected the original series in the story lines, also got some very classy actors in it.

I actually really enjoyed Enterprise too, especially the last 2 seasons and was very disappointed when they axed it. :(

I never gave Enterprise a fair chance. I was really looking forward to it coming to TV but then never really watched it properly. Just an episode here and there. I didn't like the theme music, not ST (or even Sci-Fi) enough. :P

Voyager had some great episodes.. who could forget the USS Relativity or the NX-01 episode?

Sure there were some stinkers in there too, but overall it was pretty good. DS9 was ok - that Nog character was annoying, and the whole "parallel universe" thing was a touch lame I thought.

Voyager had some interesting Borg tussles. Lots of crap between though - never could get used to Janeway.  When's Enterprise coming back, that was a better series.

momaw, where is ST:TOS in HD DVD???

I still haven't bought the animated series, and waiting on Enterprise in HD.
I agree that the music for Enterprise was also very non Star Trek style, which killed it. I enjoyed Quantum Leap so hence didn't mind him being the gun hoe captain.

How can anyone not like the parrallel dimension re-occuring theme???
"Spock with a beard? I think not" (thats one of my fav jazz tracks too)
Then DS9 keeps adding to the world, and Enterprise also has a whole episode based on that universe, which was a fantastic episode, best beginning of a st episode too (different music even)... I could hunt down the episode number it was one of the last eps of Season 4.

But SG... Anyone remember the episode of SG where each character is trying to sell the story of what happen (or something) and Vala tells it like a Farscape episode? That was quite clever!

DSS9 (past the first two seasons) was not only some of the finest Trek ever made, but some of the finest sci-fi or even drama ever made.

It was an ongoing story, which was gripping and well told.  It is different to TNG of TOS in that sense so I wouldn't compare them and love them all equally.

Voyager tried to mix the two styles and imo failed.  The ongoing story was neither gripping nor did I care about the characters.  Despite putting them in a whole new quadrant, they had to rely on established enemies and stories to actually make a half decent episode.  Yet they threw every established rule, fact or cannon out the window every time the script became difficult.  It was lazy writing that had run out of steam.

Enterprise tried to correct this with mini arcs and season arcs.  While I enjoyed it, I think they went overboard.  Season 3 is almost too much and I found myself wanting a break from the main story arc.  I was also very dissatisfied by the finale.  Needless deaths and a weak story that rushed the show to a finish rather than celebrating it.  The ending should have been more of a beginning, as it was the start of the adventure, so to speak, for many more generations to come.

Anyway, thats just my 2c plus GST.
