I tried to do a USB update today on my TV but had no luck.  Do you need some sort of special USB drive.  It basically wouldnt recognise the file.

Did you extract the file first?

I just downloaded it and put it on the USB.  I thought It didnt needing unzipping. Will give that a try.  Thanks.

I take it the bluray (freebie) cant be updated via USB.  It only talks about a disc update.

Double click on the file on the USB and it will extract it.

You can update the BD Player via USB as well. Same process - extract first.

tv worked fine but bluray didnt.  It only wants an internet connection for update.  The USB function only wants videos, photos or music.

Do you have the BD6900 player? It will do the update via USB. I've got mine boxed up atm (using the Sammy 3D HT instead). Just have a quick flick through the manual. It will do it, as I've done all updates via USB.

Cheers.

I finally received C5900 player and 3d starter kit for this promotion after purchasing a PS50C7000. Not all good though, I am having problems with the picture, basically when it tries to switch to 3D it turns into a bunch of red and green vertical lines. All other type of playback has been fine incl. DVD's from this player. I have latest firmware for TV & Bluray player and tried an older HDMI cable I had and a brand new 1.4a spec cable. I'm having trouble finding any reference to a similar problem, any ideas? The 2D to 3D conversion appears to work OK so I'm a bit stumped.

Doesn't sound good. All I can suggest is to try a hard re-set - hold down the exit button on the remote for 5 seconds or more while the tv is on. You will lose any settings you adjusted. It'll then take you back though the setup process (re-scan & so forth) as if you've turned the tv on for the very first time. Short of that it sounds like a faulty processor or board. If you've had the tv for a while (sounds like you if you've only just received the bonus kit), then you'll have to book in a service call with Samsung.

Let us know how you get on.

Andys.

Same problem I am having with mine. Have downloaded the FW update and unzipped the file on my USB. Insert the USB into player and it only wants to do an update via the internet, no option of doing it via USB. I may just buy the wireless dongle eventlually and do it that way.

Hey guys

I just bought a 46" series 8 3D led tv a few weeks ago but im getting a free 22" led tv, 4 pairs of glasses and 4x 3D movies.

I much prefer to of got a 3D Blu Ray player instead of a 22" tv that im not going to use, but it will make a good xmas present for someone haha.

Anyways, does anyone here have a samsung 3D Blu Ray player that they would want to offload to me? otherwise i'll guess i'll have to pop out to jb hifi and pick one up in the next few weeks (before my 3D movies arrive)

cheers
Jaydee

It worked ok for me. You unzipped and had the .ruf in the root of the drive? Make sure there is no disc in the drive and insert when player is on.

I've tried calling samsung support about my problem yesterday and today, all I get is some fast-talker on the other end asking for my number to call me back... which never happens.

Received my dispatch email today (9 Dec) and hope the 2 day turn around experienced by others is the same for me.

Timeline: purchased 16/10, paid postage 15/11, confirmation email 9/12, delivered ??

Delivered 13/12.

Now to have fun calibrating it.

Note: You MUST update to latest Firmware before playing Avatar Extended Edition. I tried it as my first blu-ray and it just sat there with black screen whiring and girring for well over a minute, tried to stop, eject etc and got nothing. Eventually restarted player. Apparently the new firmware is required to handle the copyright encryption.

Watching MvA 3D I was most unimpressed with the ghosting/crosstalk. Adjustments for 3D settings on both the BD player and TV were required. By default the BD player had my screen size as 55", i changed to 46". With the TV 3D settings I changed 3D Optimisation to -1 which made quite a difference, particularly on the early scene with the man climbing the giant staircase. My initial settings had very noticable crosstalk at the top of the staircase which disappeared with the new settings.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Billy.

Hey guys! I've got a brand new Samsung BD-C5900 Blu Ray player that I want to off load (received it last week after 7 weeks in the redemption queue!).

I've also got the MvA 3D Blu Ray (unopened) disc that I wouldn't mind swapping with someone who has a different 3D movie.

Msg me if any one is interested. I'm based in Melbourne.

Thanks.

Did you post that on Whirlpool?? If not, you're the 2nd person I've heard who got 2 x regular and 2x rechargeable. That would be very cool. Which Blu-ray pack did you get??

I'm still waiting for my S/N to be validated (Only got the TV last week), but I'm hoping to get the Shrek movies.

No, didn't post on whirlpool. The blu ray pack I got was "How to Train your Dragon", and the "IMAX Triple Treat", which is "Galapagos 3D", "Into the deep 3d" and "Mummies 3D". Good for me as no kids yet, and I like a good doco! Watched Dragon last night, and it wasn't that bad really.
If you only registered this week, I have a hunch you'll get the shrek titles. I just wonder of everyone gets the rechargeables or not!

My player that I recieved as part of this promo does not work. The Sony is back in action now but it is not a 3d unit. I wonder if and how to get the Samsung unit replaced / fixed.

Looking for a 5900 or 6900 BD player if anyone has one via redemeption they are looking to sell. Prefer Melb pickup but may consider interstate if the price is right.

How are people getting on at redeeming their 'free' Bluray player and additional two pairs of glasses from Samsung?

Still waiting here and given the email response said it would be 'over ten weeks', thought that was a bit rubbish. Is that usually how long these offers take? Can't really complain I guess, 55" 3D TV, four sets of glasses and a 3D Bluray player all for $3700, just thought it would be a bit quicker than over ten weeks.

Patience patience  :P
