I think you'll find that it depends on whether you are an existing or "new" customer. I believe new customers are getting offered free incentives etc to join but us loyal existing customers still need to pay through the nose!!! :angry2:

My missus got off the phone to them about an hour ago for us to get foxtel installed, getting the IQ2 for $0 installed but charged monthly for it after that of course and then the rep also said he would give us 7 months of the HD channels for free, didn't even have to ask. Got the missus to call up told her to act dumb, maybe thats the way to go to get good deals. It's worth a try if it worked for us.

Nope, first time foxtel subscriber. Had Austar in the past though and only just moved to a foxtel area 6 months ago.

Just rang 1300 795 388 (The phone number for iq2 upgrade for existing users).  Foxtel are running a promotion at the moment which saves you money on installation and on going iq2 costs. I think it was called the 'bundle' package.  They check your eligibility for it first.

When I signed on to HD as an existing subscriber with two outlets (one IQ1) I did so for $100 installation fee, with 3 months of HD Channels for Free. I was also not obligated to keep the HD channels for any period of time, and pay no ongoing additional fee for the IQ2 box (I am paying $10 a month for the IQ1 box which I kept and moved to the second outlet).

Im paying like around 71.00 there abouts for my package with foxtel digital.  I dont ahve these IQ boxes.... i dont no anything about it. I think IQ box foxtel mainly all it does is record shows.. when i can do that with my dvd recorder simple.

Aniways the one i have is a small white box and its slim with a foxtel card on the front. And i got this in 2004 the month when foxtel introduce digital.

I think 71.00 is just alittle expensive. It would be nice to see it to about 50.00

Does the price allways go up every year or does the price goes down (when more people wants foxtel... there for foxtel reduce the price down) ? I allways see the price going up rather then going down.

I also spend 24.00 to see this interesting live mardi grass parade on sat night. 24.00 for just that. The price should only be 8.00 would be nice.

Another person posted this as well but...

100 dollars to upgrade...5 dollars a month for the IQ2 for 12 months.  Basically the same thing as '6 months free' except you only get the normal FTA HD with the IQ2 unless you want to pay more.

In any case, over a year that's 40 dollars you pay to go to IQ2...not a bad deal...My co-worker also got this deal.

Now, I haven't seen the bill yet..so who knows but since multiple people have got this deal and the person I talked to on the phone seemed very aware of it...doesn't seem like a big deal..

I think he may have been talking about Foxtel from Telstra, where they used to offer a 5 or 10% discount, depending on how many services you bundled together on the one bill. You can no longer select the % discount as your bundle option, but if you had already selected it prior to the cut-off date which was years ago, then you are still able to receive this discount, so long you haven't changed your option since.

Perhaps this was what he meant? :)

Sorry for the delay in reply.

It is a multi room deal on at the moment. Free installation on any boxes that you are upgrading to iq and was $100 installation for iq2. There was some other special for the upgrade to iq as well but it was not relevant to me as i was doing iq2.

Each box is only $5 a month for iq2 instead of the usual $10 for the first 12 months. This is better than the last time I called where i was quoted the usual $200 per outlet for installation.

This was not telstra related. Just grabbed the number off the foxtel hd webpage.

I was 14 months through a 24 month contract, wanted to upgrade to an IQ1. Managed to get a deal of $50 install and then $5 per month - which seemed quite reasonable.
