Extra Info: It is still with Retailer in store boxed up, I was told it has been used for 20-40 hours as a demo model i believe. Condition is still excellent and it will come with some warranty on it. I havent personally used it yet.

More than just an audio control center, the Cinema 11 features the latest version of CES 7.1 decoding, which derives 7.1 channel output from stereo, 5.1 and 6.1 channel sources. Unlike

It decodes all the latest high definition codecs (Dolby True HD & DTS HD MA) and is Cary Audio’s flagship HT processor. This processor does no video processing, allowing all it’s smarts to concentrate solely on audio.

HAHA, yes well I think Al was just the push i needed. It made me realise even if i wanted to purchase anything else that I just couldnt fit it in my house. I have way too much decent equipment lying around. I still have 2 centers and 2 pairs of fronts which are all quite darn good speakers not being used and havent been used for a while. I have 3 video processors and am only using 1 at the moment (need to at least sell 1 of them if not 2).

I keep talking about a 2nd system i am going to put together blah blah but i never get around to it and frankly not much of a need for it either. I have a elektra theatron that hasnt been used for ages except as a back up power amp. I have 2 ME power amps that are used as back up power amps..... Dont even start me on the subwoofers!

Initially i was thinking of the A1hda but now I was just thinking regardless of what happens i need to sell some of my gear, at least someone will use them and get enjoyment from them. I value them all and realised its a waste to just hoard them if they will never get used again especially after how much i treasured them when i first got them myself. My Problem is I treasure them so much I hate to see them go. And perhaps because I dont have a mortgage yet, I dont value the idea of having cash rather than pretty equipment lying in boxes not being used. Saying that I also cant see them go for a price i feel is too low and hence sometimes I just end up keeping them with the idea of using them again one time in the future when Armageddon occurs and AV equipment are required...

The only thing is, I am getting second thoughts about selling off my Cary's as some people feel they are really good and are probably better than the Denon while others feel the complete opposite. So its a tough one especially since I havent listened to my Carys yet or to the Denon and likely wont be able to...well with my Cary's i will be able to once the new firmware is installed on them and i get them (unless i sell them). Bah its all too confusing!

P.S Sadly the power point issue has not been fixed yet, been so busy i keep forgetting to get it resolved. And I know I really have to if not for any other reason than the totally stupid amount of subs and power amps in the room . I guess I am still a bit daunted by how exactly to fix the power point issue. For people who dont know, I have a TONNE of equipment in my room and only 2 power sockets!

I wouldnt read the 11a review in WSR lonewolf ; it will play with your mind as it compares it to a denon as well

It  wouldnt feel right doing that after Blade was kind enough to give the tip mate . The webzine is great value [$15] in any case when compared to the bimonthly mag and is still on special . It doesnt gloss over the small issues as a lot of mags do and has a great archive as well

Can the Cary IIa accept uncompressed bitstreams at its input, decode it, and output it as LPCM? I need a "black box" bitstream decoder as my BR player doesn't decode to LPCM, and my processor can't accept uncompressed bitstreams (but it can accept LPCM).

Can't see in your equipment list what player your using beejay,

Not aware of any processor doing that sort of thing beejay, but some players will internally decode. The player I am selling does...

Other players around that do as well. Can confirm my player does indeed decode all available formats and output as lpcm

Ps as an aside there was  a Sherwood device to marry upto their Newcastle pre. Not sure if still available. And might be a little too budget in any regard to fit in a quality system such as yours.

I can only suggest workarounds beejay when the kaleidescape only bitstreams and the halcro isnt compatible . The only device that would possibly work [ and you would have to forego your vp which I cant see happening ] is a cary 11v which can strip strip lpcm and has a digilink proprietary port for the cary 11 which can take lpcm . If it can do that it also has 2 hdmi outputs which could feed your halcro . Or buy lonewolfs 11 [I think it would be very reasonably priced ]  ; I would make double sure this is possible though as the cary 11v manual doesnt mention the older 11 .

A very expensive workaround though ; was thinking if you had a meridian you could buy a 621

I got a sparky to run a dedicated circuit for my HT gear.  Did not cost that much for peace of mind.

The Cary Cinema 11a is being used by me now and so not being offered for sale. I havent really decided if i am going to use the Cary Cinema 11 yet in a 2nd system or not, its still in the box not being used at the moment .

Bradp : When you say it did not cost much, are we talking a couple of hundred or more? I really should get these issues fixed up as i think the situation is nowhere near ideal at the moment. I believe i am using up about... 52 power sockets (through a lot of power boards) all coming from 2 power sockets in the room...... The powerboards are decent power boards i am using with surge protection etc but still the idea that its all coming from 2 power sockets is really .....scary.

Blardy hell, its a wonder the whole circuit doesn't trip every time you switch it on!!!

I had an extra circuit added for the HT room and spent $1800 doing it.

Scary is one way to look at it but the other thing to question is are your components (especially power amps) are even getting enough power to work at their best, particularly if you are using surge protected power boards.
I found out first hand when I bought an 8 outlet Belkin Surge protector board and went from running all of my components off four plugs (2 power points) through the one surge protector I noticed a significant drop in power output of my receiver. The sound was thinner across the board. I ended up taking the receiver off the surge projector and running it directly off a dedicated power point socket and the power was restored.

It was either the fact I was drawing more power from the one power point or the surge protector limited the power input slightly, or both.
