I have got the X3 shelf mounted center screen to minimize keystone correction for better video processing.
Thanks for your advice

I have never experienced a "lock up" in 550 hour, probably because my X3 is directly connected to a PC, no receiver in line.

Thanks for this information, I was under the impression lens shift, shifted the image down but distorted it (so to speak) and the keystone adjustment would correct this via video processing.
So what would the keystone adjument be used for, I can understand if the projector was mounted on an angle you would need keystone but why would anyone mount it on an angle and not horizontal to the screen.
Are you saying the ANSI contrast suffers because of the reflection straight back into the lens if mounted at center screen.
I am still learning even after many years with CRT projectors.
I value your input.

Keystone correction is only useful in extreme circumstances where the projector is way off center of not square and parallel.
ANSI contrast is compromised by reflections in the optical path of the projector, using lens shift can redirect some of these reflections to an area outside the projected image thereby improving ANSI.
I cant say I can see any difference with or without lens shift in my setup and image sharpness is unaffected as well.

Got my X3 back just the other day, put it on a coffee table fired it up got excited to see picture once again.
No vertical shift!
Unit now back in for repair again.
Bought this unit in December 11
Only watched 2 movies.
Have been told optical block seems to be defective.
Would have thought this unit should be replaced months ago.
Think I might contact consumer people tomorrow.
Great Projector.
Service ????????????

Found out yesterday that the optical block has a crack in the dicast next to where the vertiacal shift
machanism is, how the hell that cracked beats me.
Anyway the good news is Kenwood is replacing the X3 with an X30.
Could not be better news as this has gone on for 5 months.
And this was not the original problem.
So guys, ceiling mounted, 92" X 52" screen about 14ft back from screen, what would you recommend center of lens to top of screen should be.
The screen is 19" from ceiling.
8ft ceiling.
Thanks
Richard

A good outcome, shame it took far too long to get sorted.

I suppose its logical The Crack most likely happened during Transit but then again I wouldn't put it past the Repair Agents careless handling,
seeing first hand some of the desgustingly poor workmen ship Ive seen in my time..
