Hi to All owner of Oppo93

From avs, a number of owners experiencing a/v synch issue..
Do you encounter this?
I plan to confirm my order direct frm Oppo tonite, really can't wait to own it.

Cheers

I haven't had this issue.  On teh AVS forum it was announced today that Oppo has released a FW upgrade to resolve issue although it's only for users experiencing the issue at this stage.  Most are reporting issue as solved by this firmware.

Clearly Oppo are aware of this and working to resolve.

Could someone kindly direct me to the firmware link at avs forum? I'm afraid I have the audio synch issues as well.

I believe you need to contact Oppo as fix is being released only to those reporting problem at present.

I haven't had a sync issue, but I reckon those guys need to get a calibration disc to work out the delay. As a idea my denon 4311 via the oppo needed about 130ms of delay to get the sync accurate, so the oppo does take a fair bit of time relatively to process the video.

On my ps3 the delay needed was only 38ms i think.

Which calibration disc did you use? I did not order Spears&Munsil calibration disc along with Oppo93 as it's out of stock

Oppo emailed me with a link to the firmware within 30 minutes of my email to them.  I loaded it onto a 2 gig usb and ran it an hour ago.  Audio and video now synched perfectly. Like all other reports mine was also a case of audio ahead of video by at least 100 milliseconds.  This despite turning off all settings for SACD, HDMI 2 etc as otherwise advised at avsforum. None of these helped, but the firmware literally works like a charm.
Also ordered the region free mod from the Danish site. It look like they will be mailing from Jan 26. 91 AUD at yesterday's exchange rate.

I may be premature in saying this but the audio on this player is outstanding.  My "real" audio gear includes a Meridien CD player, Audiolab pre and power amps and Monitor Audio Studio 20 speakers.  THe movie setup with projector and Oppo comes down to a Denon 2807 and 5 channel setup and frankly I think the audio is superior to the pure feed from the Meridien to the Audiolabs, including regular CD 2 channel playback.

Another thing I like about the Oppo is it will play every mkv to disc Ive thrown at it,   many of these won't load at all on either LG570 or the Soniq 302B.

Very impressed.

Gattiweb sells Oppo93 RF kit as well and i am wondering is this kit similar to the one you ordered from bluraychip.dk?

I'm tempted to follow your foot step to pre-order the kit. But i'm still waiting for my Oppo to arrive and have no idea at this moment on how to install this kit

Analogue two channel.   The Projector room setup is audio minimal two channel only - the vast majority of my 6000 plus collection is classic, arthouse foreign so the multi system gear is an entirely separate setup with the Plasma in another living room and the LG 570 running that show plus a Soniq 302B for multi region. So the Oppo is HDMI 1 to the Sony VW60, and two high quality RCA's to the old Denon 3200. What so many people don't even realize is how sensational the DTS HD tracks for older mono (and early stereo) films are.  Criterions like Red Shoes, Vivre sa Vie, etc etc. Ditto European BD titles from France and Italy.  Labels like Gaumont, Carlotta, RHV in Italy, Criterion, MoC and BFI in the UK have all been doing amazing restoration work on movie audio tracks, in tandem with the restored/cleaned up re-encoded 2k or 4k telecines masters for BLu of old classics. And the lossless HD audio is surely equal to the visual upgrade to 1080p.

No idea.  You could email Oppo?  Or ask on the AVS thread?

Just a question if you can help :)

Are you able to turn deep colour on/off on this player?...Might sound like a bizzare question....but my PJ wont play 1080p..unless the deep colour is turned off (both my sony BDP and PS3 have to have it turned off)

Oppo bd players have many colour space options ;no problem sending standard 8 bit with no xv ycc upscaling  :)  Sometimes you need certified hi speed cables to pass greater than 8 bit or a bigger colour gamut  but most people consider this as having very little effect on the picture . In any case bluray is not a deep colour source  -_-

Just found out today the Bluraychip.dk one has been delayed. I hate pre-ordering stuff only to have release pushed back. Gattiweb's one is released about same time according to his site. So I may cancel pre-order, as why have it mailed from Europe when it can be bought from Melbourne approx same time.  <_<

Yep that was the obvious conclusion I came to as well. Same supplier. So why bother importing from Denmark.

Short answer Yes you can turn off deep colour.

Options for Deep Colour are:

36 bits
36 bits dithered
30 bits
Off dithered
Off which is the default

This is on page 58 of the manual which can be downloaded from oppo's website

I was under the idea that the basic operation of the mediatek chip was still the same blairy . Are you saying the 93 doesnt read the edid of the display and sends the required colour space its compatible with ? from the 83 faq ;

Quote

Color Space – To select the color space for the HDMI output.  The available options are:
• Auto (Recommended) – The player checks with the display device to automatically
determine what color space to use.  If the display device supports YCbCr 4:4:4, then it will
be used to avoid extra color space conversion.

Yeah saw the off option but it should be redundant [ it is the default setting so has to be switched on anyway to be a problem for the op  :)   ]
