Suggest you go to a specialist AV retailer with your favorite movies, music and listen to a few brands. Some people prefer a brand's sound e.g. Denon over Yamaha. Let your ears be the judge.
You can then decide on how many channels, what other features eg. streaming, room correction. This will determine the model.
I note that your location is USA! USD$2k will get you higher end models which have sufficient power.
p/s have Anthem which is highly rated for its audio and room correction. Using it in a family room and room correction helps to compensate for the non dedicated location.
Given you do not want to go with surround rears a 9.2 air would work.
denon is neutral so this avr should serve you well - Denon AVR-X4300H 9.2 Channel Full 4K Ultra HD AV Receiver
i like the warmth of the marantz and though above budget would also do the job -
Marantz SR7011 9.2 Channel Full 4K Ultra HD AV Surround Receiver with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
The SR60119.2 Channel Full 4K Ultra HD AV Surround Receiver with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
would also do the job at half the price of the 7011
High folks, I'm kinda new here. Long store short we are building a house and I'm trying to setup my home theater system in our family room. So far I bought the following.
Speakers: 2-Kef ci5160thx in wall left and right for the center speaker I return one ci5160 for a kef r600c. Can't cut triple beam.studs to install the center speaker is a load bearing wall.
4-kef ci200rr for .4 ceiling atmos surround.
2-kef q4100 for back left n right surround.
Subwoofer- 2- rythmik fv15hp running dual.
Now my question is what receiver brand or model I need to by to drive those speakers. I'm not and expert at all but I do like neutral to tad warm sound signature. Budget is 2000 or less.
