Bitrates For Darwin Channels

3 posts in this topic

Hi folks - as from a request in the 7Two thread to write the bitrates for the 7 channels up here, I thought I'd just write all the rest of the bitrates in case anyone was interested (hopefully I'm reading these figures the right way - this is what TSREader Lite is reporting right now):

Frequency - 550.500 MHz

Nine Darwin HD: Bitrate 12.78 Mbps - Resolution 1920x1080i

Nine Darwin SD: Bitrate 6.13 Mbps - Resolution 720x576i

Frequency - 557.500 MHz

SCTV HD: Bitrate 11.25 Mbps - Resolution 1440x1080i

SCTV Darwin: Bitrate 5.44 Mbps - Resolution 720x576i

7Two: Bitrate 4.11 Mbps - Resolution 704x576i

Frequency - 536.500 MHz

SBS HD: Bitrate 10.2 Mbps - Resolution 1280x720p

SBS One: Bitrate 4.2 Mbps - Resolution 720x576i

SBS Two: Bitrate 3.5 Mbps - Resolutoin 720x576i

Frequency - 564.500 MHz

DDT HD: Bitrate 13.82 Mbps - Resolution 1440x1080i

DDT SD: Bitrate 6.15 Mbps - Resolution 720x576i

Frequency - 543.625 MHz

ABC HDTV: Bitrate 10.1 Mbps - Resolution 1280x720p

ABC1: Bitrate 5.42 Mbps - Resolution 720x576i

ABC2: Bitrate 2.7 Mbps - Resolution 720x576i

ABC3: Bitrate 2.2 Mbps - Resolution 720x576i

The SBS figures were changing as I was writing this... SBS HD went from 11.xx to 9.xx, and the ABC figures were moving too...

I have yet to see any messy screens on 7 two. it looks very clear to me, as clear as other channels. 7 two is designed very well from the start.

Job well done from southern cross, well done! :)

That would be the statmuxing that SBS and now ABC2 and ABC3 are using. Others seem to have gotten around this problem by taking the average of these figures over some period of time, say between 10-15 minutes. TEN also does this with its streams in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, etc...
