  1. The Bushrangers v Bulls game on Fox Sports HD looks pretty good today.
  2. Watching the NBA game today in glorious 576i SD.
  3. Where is this competition from IPTV players going to come from? The current IPTV players are Foxtel on XBox 360 and Fetch TV. Fetch TV is a joke as it has no live sport and their other channels are available on Foxtel. In the new AFL rights all the games will be available live on IPTV via Foxtel on Xbox 360 & Foxtel on T-Box. Seems to me as if Foxtel are embrasing IPTV. Furthermore, how will HD be delivered via IPTV?
  4. Seven, Foxtel to share AFL rights * Jesper Fjeldstad * From: Sunday Herald Sun * April 24, 2011 12:00AM Full Article CHANNELS 9 and 10 have chosen rugby league over Australian football, and the two free-to-air broadcasters are set to drop out of the AFL rights race. Seven is on the brink of signing off on the next five years' rights in tandem with Foxtel, with all games to be beamed live into Australian homes. The Sunday Herald Sun has learned that Channel 10 has pulled out of the race not only because of acrimony over the defection of executive James Warburton from Seven to Ten, but to be in a better position to bid for part of the next NRL rights.
  5. Nine to bid for AFL rights on the siren Herald-Sun Michael Warner April 16, 2011 Full Article CHANNELS 7 and 10 have lodged their final bid in the race for control of the AFL's next round of TV rights. The AFL Commission is meeting about the TV rights on Monday, but Seven and Ten's rival, Channel 9, is delaying making its last offer until Monday morning. The commission could rule on the winner on Monday afternoon, but will more likely reconvene later in the week. TV chiefs expect the long-running saga to be concluded no later than Friday. Nine is bidding against a joint Seven and Ten consortium for four weekly home-and-away matches, with Foxtel to air the remaining games in the five-year contract, starting next year.
  6. They are pathetic on Sundays in Melbourne with interstate games. The Sydney v Essendon game was on a 1hr delay in Melbourne but live into Sydney.
  7. I don't like the attitude of "if you want to watch AFL you must get foxtel". I'm not going to spend $70 a every month to watch AFL live because that amount will actually end up around $140 because football is only on 6 months of the year. I cannot stand the summer snooze fest (soccer) but like the NFL and NBA for which the coverage is pathetic on Foxtel. For the NBA I subscribe to the league pass which is $30 p.m and gives me live and replay access to all the games.
  8. I don't mind ONE showing some programming other than Sport if at prime time this helps the ratings. Personally I would rather if ONE dropped some of the sports like soccer and focused more on US sports with some extra general programming. Perhaps One could show a game a week from the VFL on a Sunday to replace the lost AFL game?
  9. At least you get it, down here in Victoria 9 is showing some old movies.
