Agree there are some serious bass effects and surround action on World War Z amazing special effects too.

Note Brad is a Volvo driver safest car in the world. :hyper:

I think this will be a reference BR release sound and picturewise up there with Oblivion.

Might just get my vote for action movie of the year. Really enjoyed it very well produced on all aspects.

Just watched the UK Star Trek into the whatever ... It did not sound filtered with some pretty good bass and a very wide dynamic range.

Captain Phillips.
Absolutely awesome (for my humble system anyway)!

Rush. First bit of bass only a few minutes in when one of the cars revs caught me off guard, reckon my heart skipped a beat or two, awesome! Great movie too, don't need to be a racing car fan, I'm definitely not a petrol head and I loved it, bass galore :)

Funny you mention Rush.
We had a choice today of Rush or Captain Phillips (both of which we are "busting" to see) - Captain Phillips won.
Can't wait to see Rush!
The US slip cover says "Ron Howard's best film yet"!
Can't imagine that it's better than Apollo 13 .... your thoughts?

I wouldn't say it's better than Apollo 13 but it's probably a fraction more entertaining than Apollo 13. Apollo 13 is more tension packed whereas Rush still has tension but a bit more overall action and the James Hunt over indulged lifestyle vs the Niki Lauda straight down the line lifestyle.

Not knowing much about Formula One I googled a fair bit of info on Niki Lauda and James Hunt and it seems to tell me that Rush is very true to their history and the events in it. It (Rush) probably feels a bit more documentary at times than Apollo 13 whereas Apollo 13 whilst factual has a better movie feel to it.

Hope that all makes sense!

Perfect sense - and similar rationale to my thinking :)
My better half is a F1 addict, so it will be a great watch.

2 upcoming releases that sound like they are reference:

http://bluray.highde...0378/thor2.html

http://bluray.highde...nders_game.html

Lets hope this is a sign of things to come with unfiltered bass.

Hey Minty, yes that first minute or so at the start of Rush had me reaching for the remote as it scared the crap out of me, in a good way. What a stunning sounding BD pretty much has everything to test or show off your system. Loved it. Reminded of Super Speedway:

http://www.blu-ray.c...y-Blu-ray/1160/

I've got the DVD (DTS-High Bit Rate) version but not the BD. Blade says the BD is stunning.

We will be watching Ender's Game tonight. Really looking forward to it :)
Likewise above - we loved Rush. Especially nostalgic for my better half, as it was set in an era when he was really getting involved in racing.

Ender's Game = new room rattles I'd never heard before - still there when I backed down the volume before SWMBO came to see why the house was being demolished... :)

Oh dear!
Does that mean I will need to put some padding behind the glass framed movie posters

Yup Enders Game is so far best soundtrack of the year in 2014.....the bass is great and is unfiltered and the surround track is awesome too!. I didn't mind the movie also! :)

My amazon copy has arrived.
It's a very nice detailed transfer. The 3D is quite dark, but has less issues than Thor. I think it will be an excellent watch.
Edit: Oops! this thread was about bass. Will need to check that side out from a full viewing/listening - possibly tonight.
Edit: Bass (on our humble system), was awesome!

Gravity has a good soundtrack. It does give all speakers a good workout throughout the whole movie. Especially the sub that is almost always in use the entire movie.

Dredd is just incredible especially the start and the beat of the music and the motorbike sounds crazy.
