Japan Prepares For Analog Shutoff

After over 50 years of broadcasts, Japan will be pulling the plug on analogue NTSC* on July 24, 2011 being the first country in Asia as well as the first outside of Europe and North America to switch over to digital. I hope the TV networks there (or at least NHK) mark the event with a proper sendoff rather than just abruptly cutting transmission as what happened in Europe and the USA ;)

*except in areas affected by the March 11 earthquake/tsunami which will continue analogue broadcasts for at least another year.
