We went to the Studio Ghibli Museum in Mitaka on a recent trip to Japan,
such an awe inspiring place.

First and only time me and my Mrs in Japan (our honeymoon) was to go specifically to that Museum........ It was closed for renovations..... :( :( :( Hiaz...

Need to save up and return again....

If you do make the trip again, make sure you book for Studio Ghibli about a month before you leave,
they limit numbers to 4000 a day and demand is about 10000 a day.

We got 2 for 1 tickets with Jetstar, so it was only $450 return each, but all the other costs soon add up.

Cool. That's good to know.. (I didn't know that)...

Food? Vending machines? I'm still bloody kicking myself - my only time in Japan, the rate was $1 to 95 yen!!!! :( I'd prob fly from HK (and get a air-tix hotel package).. ATM accumulating my leave, and hope for a AUD revival.. :ninja:

Sounds like fun, can you get by without speaking Japanese there?

Me & Mrs can't speak a word of Japanese.. And we survived... The hotel we went to has a counter for English speakers, that's about it...

My wife is a Ghibli studio fan, while me Doraemon... Apparently there will be a Doraemon Museum in 2011.... So that's the plan.. Visit both somehow...

Now if Doraemon comes in Blu Ray, I will definitely get it..

HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE - one of my absolute faves (anime wise)!
Notice this is available for preorder at JB Hi Fi for $32.98 (23/05/12), but the audio is stated as Dolby Digital 2.0!
Does anybody have any "heads up" info as to the audio we may expect on the Aus release?
I see that the Japanese version is DTS HDMA 5:1 :logik:

2) Nausicaa: Of the Valley of the Wind
- Japanese - 2.0 LPCM
- English - 2.0

Sky Blue is a brilliant anime, a bit of a cross between Ghost in the Shell 2 and Akira,
I loved the visuals

Agreed! :)

Really enjoyed it and was quite surprised they could fit both HD audio formats plus an excellent video reproduction on a BD25 disc.......

Redline on BD is phenomenal. Audio is DTS-MA and is a benchmark title for me.

I have received my Australian version from JB Hi Fi.
It has an excellent DTS HDMA 5:1 English track (didn't check the Japanese one - the cover states that it is DTS HDMA 5:1) and appears to have all the special features that the UK one does.
I already have the DVD, so the Aus version is good for me, and released much earlier than the UK one.
The PQ is stunning :)
Edit: It is region B locked.

The Arrietty Deluxe Collectors Edition from Amazon.co.uk is very nice. Best UK packaging (other than steel book) that I've seen :)

Watched "My Neighbors the Yamadas" yesterday: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0206013/

When I watched this a decade ago I don't get it.... Yesterday was a totally different experience .. Laughed from beginning to end... This may well be the only Studio Ghibli movie with no underlying dark theme?

The artwork, and the Jap track.. Pretty well done!

Also, anybody got Totoro BD yet? Good, bad?

Not sure how I missed this one, but it looks pretty good.

It's already out in the US but the UK packaging looks pretty special...... :)
