Hey guys,

Looking between these models:

Hisense 42" Hl106v68pz 1080p 100hz $1238
Hisense 42" Hl106v88p 1080p $1397

In-store at JB, i noticed that the v88 looked really good. Much better than the panasonic, lg and other panels taht were nearby. The motion seemed almost like it was 100hz (but apparantly not?) and PQ was a lot clearer. I didn't notice much difference between with the v68 but apparantly it's 100hz and is better and going for cheap. They only have 1-2 left.

Is that a good price for the v68pz and could it be haggled further?

Cheers

There's always more to come off the ticketed price...though for those prices you could get a 100Hz Sony or Sammy LCD?

I note that Hisense are aiming to become a household word, e.g. with the naming of the Hisense Stadium - maybe hoping to be the next LG? I wonder what their history is and how long they have been around. Are they a re-badging exercise or a 'proper' manufacturing company?

I too will be looking for a full HD setup in the next 3 weeks and the Hisense prices are the first thing that hits you when cruising the catalogues.

Edit: Not necessarily suscpicious of Chinese imports as such, I'm currently using a CHIMEI 22 inch monitor which is absolutely faultless, had it for 2 years. However there's a plethora of them out there, like Centrex, Vue etc so I guess it can be a minefield.

Yep, you're right on the pricing. After calling around, goodguys will go lower than that for the v68 (prob to $1200) and another JB store will give me a special on their only unit which is the display unit. Both stores are near each other so maybe i can get them to go even lower.

What 100hz sony or sammy can i get for <$1200?

The display unit is a no-go. Having said that, Hisense itself is a no-go.

I've seen Hisense TVs (including their latest LED-backlit one) and the picture quality was poor. The LED-backlit Hi-shing especially. The image was fuzzy and had none of the typical LCD-sharpness. To top it off, they were demanding $2300 for the 42" LED-backlit model when I've seen people getting the Samsung 40" B6000 going for $2200 with a free 26" LCD thrown in for good measure. What Non-sense !

Yes, that's all well and good, however the Hisense 42" lcds i was looking at were fantastic. Can you offer any alternatives for $<1200? Cheers.

Ok, ok.. everyones opinion is valid, but you really think this is the case. I would check how they are all set up (noting that usually these TV's are on a 'store' mode that will be nothing like what you will see at home. Equally suprised at the motion comparison. Check that all the sets you saw have thier equivelent technologies set the same (such as IFC for smoother pictures), and preferably off.

You can pick up the LA46B550 (46" Samsung, 1080p) - $1,365.00.
This is slightly more but a bigger screen size. I think it is a run-out model but a good buy at the moment.

That's definitely something for me to consider. However i plan on getting the v68 100hz model down to around $1100 if i can. Anyone care to guess as to the lowest i could actually get it for? I plan on going between 2 stores seeing who can offer the lowest. Also, where was the samsung available from for that price?

Cheers guys.

EDIT

Got a small dilemma:

New Hisense 42" v68pz 100hz for hopefully $1100
or
2nd hand "New condition" Samsung 46" series 5 50hz lcd $1200 (maybe can haggle a bit as well)

Thoughts? Note: *I will be playing ps3 (FF13, God of war 3) and watching a lot of sport on it (footy, tennis)*

Your nuts to even consider the 32'' Nosense as a competitor to a 46'' Sammy B550, the Samsung is in a different league and worth double the Nosense even used

Sorry, i meant 42". Things that concern me are that i've heard some average reports for the 5 series samsungs, while i know the hisense actually look quite good from what i've witnessed. There doesn't seem to be that many options available to me, however i would consider a 720p panel if it was a LOT better than the hisense 1080p.

I've seen Samsung 50" B530 Full HD plasmas going for as low as $1298. Apart from that, there was a 46" Toshiba for around $1296 in JB on Boxing Day. I believe the Sharp 42" D77 might be down to around $1400 these days.

As for the Hisense, if you really MUST buy one, I doubt if people on this forum are likely to be chasing "best prices" on Hi-Shing TVs. Most people are buying Sony, Samsung and Panasonic, with some LGs thrown in for good measure.

A 42'' Samsung is a 768p Plasma, I would take that over a 32'' Nosense LCD any day, especially for gaming.
As has been said you can get a 50'' Sammy Plasma for that kind of cash.

The 50" plasma sounds awesome, but i need to know where from :D. Also, hate to say it again, but it was a 42" 1080p "nosense".

Wow. this whole thread just reeks of consumerism... :ninja:

to OP, I have no idea if hisense is good or not, have a budget, stick to your budget and get whatever is within your budget (whether u want bang for buck, picture, brand, etc)....

Whatever you buy now will be obselete in a few years time anyway...

The number of pixels is only relevant if you sit close enough to the screen to see them, what distance will you be viewing from?

2/3 from 2-2.5 metres and rest from around 4 metres. My main usage will be PS3, fast paced sports and foxtel.

There is no perfect display for your situation, a 768p 50'' may look a little grainy at less than 2.5 meters yet it is WAY to small at 4 meters. You would need an 80'' plus screen to make 1080 useful at that distance.

Retravision and a few other stores in NSW. You can try and haggle them down to those levels again.
