At the price of $450 there isn't much that comes within a bull's roar of the UMC-1 in either a pre or a HT receiver upgrade certificate or not.

Well yes, but considering you can get a clearance-stock unit with the discount certificate for about $100 more than that delivered, I know which I'd go for (face value of the certificate is USD600).

Emotiva running a sale at the moment. The amps have around 10% off, which might help those sitting on the fence. Worth emailing for a direct quote including freight.

Been a while since I've seen this thread.

Couple of quick questions;

1- Anyone running an XSP-1 Gen2

2- I can't recall when they have their regular sales? 4th July is one. Anything coming up??

Here's what the XMC-1 will cost you if you have the 40% upgrade option (from buying the UMC-1)  (plus 15% import duty/GST or whatever they call it).

I was looking to see if comgateway would be a cheaper way to ship and found this chart (problem is I don't know the weight/size of the box.):

http://www.comgatewa...ms.do?l=en&c=AU

I thought of getting a UPA amp with it to sell with the UMC-1 or use somewhere else with it.

This is shipped the Emotiva way with UPS.

XMC-1: US$1,199.40
Freight: US$238.20 UPS Worldwide   (that's to me in Tasmania)
Total: US$1,437.60    (A$1545 + A$129 gst = A$1739)

XMC-1: US$1,199.40
UPA-500: US$349
Freight: US$336.04 UPS Worldwide
Total: US$1,884.44   (A$2025 + A$250.50 gst = A$2275.50)

So you save A$64 over buying and shipping them separately (so not paying gst/import on the UPA).

XMC-1: US$1,199.40
UPA-700: US$399
Freight: US$344.61 UPS Worldwide
Total: US$1,943.01    (A$2086 + A$258 gst = A$2344)

Save A$87 over getting them separately.

Possibly a small (A$55) customs handling fee on top of that (I don't know if UPS charge that).

Guessing that it's 60x60x30 cm gives a volumetric weight of 21.6 kg, so using this calculator com gateway shipping would be $196 (I'm assuming they work it in US$, not your currency) standard , $235 for Express. They also charge a roughly 10% of shipping cost fuel surcharge and insurance, presumably on top of that (why can't it be included?).

www.comgateway.com/2012/service-support-timecostcalculator.do?l=en&c=AU

Comgateway guessed weight to be 41Kg and based on that would charge A$348 shipping (excludes insurance, taxes and duties, fuel and remote delivery surcharges)! Actual weight would be lucky to be had that so that quote is meaningless.

There are not supposed to be any more "Holiday Sales" there is a permanent 10% discount for E-Club members, was 20% for the month of July. The no more "Holiday Sales" doesn't apply to clearances, model run outs or B Stock of course.

Yeah I've caught up with all that.

Run through another quote last night for an ERC-3.

$730 delivered including e-club discount..... including my 'remote area' surcharge. Someone else 25min from Sydney CBD got hit with that too.

It's a joke. The ERC is relatively light at around 10kg compared to say and XPA-5 at 37kg

$300 plus delivery is exorbitant

I just had a look at the back of the XMC-1 on the website and there is no XLR connection for subs

Scratch that. Quite clearly on the right

I must be having a bad day A$1545 + A$129 gst = A$1739 ! Doesn't A$1545 + A$129 gst = A$1674 ?

Have you tried the EClub price?

No I messed that one up. The GST figure is wrong. It should be

XMC-1 US$1199.40. (That's the 40% off price if you'd purchased a UMC-1)
Freight: US$238.20
Total = US$1437.60 (A$1540)

GST/import duty seems to be 15% of the US$1199.40 so US$180 = A$193

Total price A$1540 + A$193 = A$1737

I just don't know if it's worth it, particularly given the right royal stuff ups and hoky flim flam this company seem to be prone to (UMC-1 firmware issues, delays running into the years, and to get to a personal issue - humming in my equipment). The audio side seems to be fine, but really that much better than the UMC-1 or a big name product at that price? For my uses probably not. They haven't really done much on the video side. It'd be nice to plug a calibration tool into it like I can with the iScan Duo.

If that's true it's:

A$1668   XMC-1

A$2185   XMC-1 +  UPA-5

A$2253   XMC-1  +  UPA-7

Free Trade Agreement with USA so no duties apply for goods manufactured in USA. If they do charge you, you can claim it back.

Spot on, unlike most Emotiva gear the XMC-1 is actually "Manufactured in the USA".

I have/had 10 pieces of Emotiva gear and none of them hum. My uncle has 4 pieces, no hum there either. My guess is you have a local earth loop issue which may require some fault finding to resolve. If you need help just ask.

Would love to give a review but unfortunately my room is getting a makeover and could be up to 2 months before I get a chance to plug it in.

I am letting a mate try it out straight away plus it will give it a bit of run in time. :)

He is a member here, so hopefully he may even post something on it.
