Hi Vinny,I started the last Onkyo or Denon Thread,it is full of useful info.
in a nutshell,I decided to buy the Denon despite the Onkyo having 4 x HDMI inputs to the Denon's 3.
The AUDYSSEY setup feature on the Denon 789 is a more advanced than the Onkyo's and that swayed me, as my room is a bitch to get the sound right.
The Denon is about $100 more than Onkyo. $1100 for Denon.
I still don't have one because Denon and Onkyo put the prices up $300 after Jan 01.
Harvey Norman seems the best place to try, and JB don't sell Denon.
JB will do the Onkyo 606 for $1000.
If you find a Denon 789 for $1000 in Sydney, will you let me know.
Cheers.
Thornton.
P.S. do the search in the previous link.

You might wanna check the thread I made about some comparisons and prices I obtained. In a nutshell, I picked up the Denon 789 for 700 on Jan 11.

Ive just bought a 789. $850. I had a 1604 before - therefore thought the learning curve would be easier.

I haave heard of better prices but not sure how valid they are after recent price increases.

I'll be picking the 789 up this week.

Good luck with your search.

This is a great price,is it in Sydney? when I tried to buy a 789 in early Jan. at several HN stores they said I was dreaming and wanted $1100,that is why I backed off.
Maybe I can buy one in Melbourne and ship it up.
Cheers

I bought a 789 and it's still going strong.  Works a treat.
