Yes it is, and quite nice looking at US stuff in HD rather than smudged NTSC!
Cheers

The first ones may have not had 5.1 available or 7 may have just got stereo not knowing they were available in 5.1 and when later found out ordered the 5.1 versions.

Is anyone aware of whether Prime have any plans to broadcast the above shows in 5.1 on their HD channel?

Seems were still stuck with stereo soundtrack in the ACT...

SD Sourced material doesn't contain 5.1. 9 in Sydney are doing fake 5.1 most of the time.

yeh I'm not going to add those. I've listed channel 9 movies that have been 5.1 in perth because we never used to get the fake 5.1 unless it was breakaway programming. Now we don't get any 5.1. So the only people who can tell us if it's real 5.1 are those in Melbourne / Brisbane and other cities. Theres a big question mark over the whole 9 section at the moment, only 7, 10 and ABC are accurate

Hello All, were I live (near Albury / Wodonga) I have only noticed one program in Dolby Digital 5.1. It was 'sea patrol'. I have watched a lot of the programs listed above and they have been reccognised as stereo. Is this a reception issue or a local broadcast issue?

Thankyou I would appreciate any ideas :)

And 80% of the time, is very very terrible mix. Have they got a "doof doof" boy to crank up the bass to pump into the LFE channel? And the dialogue is often not in the centre, but kind of distributed amongst most of the speakers, making it have an eery echo presence, due to Dolby Digital supporting delays for the rear speakers vs the front.
Nein, if you only have Dolby Surround source, please broadcast it that way!! Or sack your doof doof boy and get a better sound technician.
Regards

NINE HD 5.1 Movies:

Little Oberon

The recent daytime re-screening of this on Nine HD had the "Dolby Digital" logo at the start, but was in 2.0 stereo. It was also edited by about 6 or 7 minutes.

Macleods Daughters last night, meanwhile, carried the Dolby Digital logo AND a new one - "SRS Circle Surround 5.1".

Interestingly, checking the SRS web site's "technologies" page, there is no such thing as "Circle Surround 5.1" (SRS specialises in truly god-awful fake-surround-from-stereo processing).

just because it sounds like 5.1 doesn't mean it was originally 5.1.

Star Wars Ep 3 on Ten is HD with 5.1. Also regarding Kidnapped I'm in Adelaide so I'm 99% sure it is actual 5.1.

Kidnapped was using the correct speakers when I checked (didn't realise it was on until the end). The rest would be typical Nine, not actually surround.

I had another look and it seems all programs on 'Nine HD' multi-channelling coming out of wherever with the really bad watermark are all '5.1.' in Adelaide as well. Programs with the standard Adelaide watermark are still being done properly and on that note 'Win a date with tad hamilton' was in 5.1.
