Cruising through my mail when I opened up this thread from Elusive disc
http://www.elusivedi..._medium=special
about their XLCD music albums that led to me downloading a few 30 second free grabs in sadly mp3 format and thought I'd share this thread with you, plenty of variety to choose from........

Good luck and enjoy

Well it took me until 23 December to get "Smile".

I will hopefully have a chance on Wednesday to listen to it.

My CD of Chris Cornell - Songbook finally showed up(now just waiting on the vinyl) so giving that a spin at work this morning.

I'd consider it a must listen for any Soundgarden or Audioslave fan. Though be warned, it's a live solo acoustic live album so quite sedate.

Can have a listen here http://chriscornell....music/songbook/

You only just got it?! What you been waiting for?

Brilliant album. The live show was simply amazing mindyou. He played at the acoustically designed and treated Concert Hall over here....even then Aslans can't match that!

To be honest, i only just found out it existed.. Got a JB voucher for christmas so got on to their site and was actually looking to order the new Soundgarden when i noticed it.

Needless to say, after a quick listen i removed Soundgarden from my cart and added both the CD and vinyl version of Songbook. I'm a big Cornell fan, and IMO this album is just brilliant.

Also ordered the new Janes Addiction(as per your recommendation) and the 20th anniversary Nevermind. And after a listen to that, i'm glad i didn't fork out for the vinyl version. CD 2, while great that it's so raw, really does sound dreadful.

Yeah, all the same songs kinda thing, just different takes etc, but some sound like they were recorded in a public dunny on a barely functioning hand held cassette tape...

Don't get me wrong though, some of them are great, raw sounding jam session recordings, but some i'm amazed anyone was brave enough to put them to disc and sell.

Also a couple of previously unreleased songs, unless they were single B sides i've never heard.

Gotye, Making Mirrors.

Beautiful album and some awesome bass in a few tracks. One I can leave on repeat and not get tired of.

Yep great album this, I am also going to look at the Chris Cornell album next.
There are some great sounds in this thread...
Albums I have just been/am listening too at present are:

The Pineapple Thief - 'Abducting the Unicorn' and 'Somewhere Here is Live'
Riverside - 'Rapid eye Movement' and 'Reality Dream -Live'
Anathema - 'We're Here Because We're Here'

I like most of the albums that these groups have put out, some are better than others, and I also appreciate the live albums as well.
Cheers,
treb

Just listening to samples from this (Making Mirrors) on the Gotye website.

As a drummer and percussionist, the pictures of theband's live performances on the website look great. Does anyone know if they (Gotye) have put out any live performance DVD's/BD's? I guess they would list anything on their website?

They pretty much are all the same, but it takes a strong voice to be able to do it without F***ing your voice box etc up. I've got a mate that used to sing like that, but he couldn't talk properly the next day...
